So we have our Final 3, and Mele the Ultimate Fire Dancer is the one who finds herself without a Flame. She leaves as the Final Juror of the season.

Mele was just an overall perfect character to write for. The way I see it, its always easier to turn a fun character into a strategist than a strategist into a fun character. And Mele definitely had the personality aspect covered. Every time she spoke it was always something snide and passive aggressive, or cheery and optimistic. You never knew what you were getting with Mele, and while there are sometimes Decoy Winner Edits that are the loud and bold ones (Like Derek this season) I wanted Mele to also act as a bit of a decoy winner, but as the low key and (somewhat) positive "Type B" Winner as some would say it. She is a character that does work best in small doses which did help what I was going for in making people suspect her, along with the fact that she is smarter than she lets on, in other seasons those would be things to seriously make her a contender.

But one thing that was also great about her, like I said earlier, is she had the potential to evolve into a bigger player in the final act of the game, while still keeping her personality from the early potions of the game. While she might not have won, she was someone to be feared in this game and would have been a formidable adversary in the Final Tribal Council... Especially since as an Ultimate Performer, she knows how to work a crowd. So while Mele was a bit of a lower key presence in this season, I don't think for a second she was underutilized or underedited, for someone who I don't think was intended to be a character that lasted this long. She certainly had everything necessary for what I'm looking for in an endgame. So long Mele, and we'll see you soon!

My opinion on Mele may have changed a tiny bit since the finale started, but I'm overall pretty fine with her. She was fun, and her passive aggressive nature was really enjoyable.

So long, Miss Ultimate Fire Dancer. Hope the hypothermia was worth it.

@ChronoAlone: And the Frostbite on the feet.

Reply DrMarble, July 26th, 2018, 10:17 pm

And then there were three.

Mele was a pretty fun character. Her passive aggressive bitchiness was pretty funny at times, and while I never considered her a front runner to win the game, I did see her as a potential dark horse.

Now we move onto the Final Battle: Creator vs Creation! (plus One)

@DrMarble: And soon there will be only one

Yeah so Ollie vs Jenny seems pretty close actually. Jenny gets Derek/Jeannie/Kade, Ollie gets Parm/Mele/CC, and Slash is the swing vote. Maybe switch Slash and Kade, but I don't think Kade could ever bring himself to vote for Ollie. I think Ollie wins because a lot of things (like revealing that he was gunning for Mele) seem to be put in to make the jury votes for him make sense, but who knows? Ollie probably ended up being my season fave, so I'm hoping for him, but Jenny's cool too.

@Guest: You sure you got all those votes right?

i appreciated mele for passive aggresively shitting on Josh at every turn. the hero we needed.

@Blastoise_FTW: She has no chill!

@Blastoise_FTW: Mele shits on him in-universe, we shit on him out-of-universe, it's all a big happy shit family.

And the Ultimate Fire Dancer has left the building! As a Danganronpa fan, I'm glad to see a character make it this far, and I just really enjoyed Mele's character overall, even if her snark got rather rude in the last few days of this game.

However, we are now at the final 3 competitors in this game! I'm rooting for Jenny, but I hope Josh gets his due at TC as well. He deserves it more than he gives himself credit for, but it's hard to see with how much he puts himself down all the time.

@anime9001: Josh is certainly in a very weird spot...

Baka Flocka Flame I came to a big realization over the course of this season. It was that I love Mele’s archetype- the person who’s all smiles despite being very obviously crazy and/or bitchy. Even when her words scared me enough to think she was Ultimate Despair (by the way, wow, did we all fall for that or what?), most of the things she said and did were still very entertaining to watch. Bye-onara, Mele! Save one of your girlfriend’s ice sculptures for me at the reunion!

This Tribal did not make me feel any less tense about the final outcome. I swear, if Ollie actually manages to win, I’M GONNA not do anything, because as a commenter, I don’t have much power.

@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: You know Erina is gonna be in the audience

Reply vanilladream, July 26th, 2018, 11:54 pm

I like her better seeing that she didn't win I guess. Mixed overall, but she had a good sendoff and some funny lines.

Reply SWSU-Master, July 27th, 2018, 12:25 am

@vanilladream: You could always count on Mele for the one liners

The only possible boot that made sense this night or the others would have automatically given up their chance to win.

Mele was one of the biggest threats in the season. Despite her rather bad challenge performance no one voted against her during all those weeks besides the random Quickscope vote. The way she was talking in many different situations you could tell that besides her cheeky and slightly crazy attitude Mele was very smart and could lull the others into a false sense of security. It's very impressive that she always was herself and still managed to pull strings behind the back. She's one of those characters I'd like to see as a returnee in a future season.

Well, I would have never expected to see both Jenny and Ollie in the finale. Unless some jurors still have prejudices, this might be a very close battle for sole survivor.

Reply SWSU-Master, July 27th, 2018, 12:27 am

@SkySurfer: Not to mention she managed to get the target completely off her back and onto everyone else at the Final Six.

Reply Sonofhades, July 27th, 2018, 12:41 am

This was a predictable boot, but a welcome one. Mele was second only to Jeannie in the Final Five in terms of social play, so she was an incredibly obvious finals threat. Jenny made the right choice and we still have hope for a Ollie victory, so I am content.

Mele started out too out of focus for me to get a read on her character, but I really started enjoying her when she relieved Kade of Jeannie's ring back in the day. Plus her whole passive-aggressive shtick never failed to make me snicker. I'm gonna miss her.

I cannot believe people actually expect Ollie to win. Not only would that single-handedly ruin the season, it makes zero sense whatsoever. He needed Jenny in order to even exist the way he is, was rude to most of the people on the jury, and did very little in the game strategically.

Reply qazox, July 27th, 2018, 12:45 pm

Smart move there by Jenny. She's about 50% guarantee to win now. Ollie and Josh are about 25% each.
