Kade's Chickens have finally come home to roost, and he leaves the game tonight.

Kade might very well be the most controversial player of the season, but I'll be honest. I enjoyed writing for him just like the others in the cast. The one tricky aspect to Kade that I had to work around is he is naturally someone who holds his cards very close to his chest and doesn't like to reveal things he does not have to. Of course that would lead to the obvious conclusion that Kade is just one of the many numerous strategy bots who only talks game but has nothing personal going on... But I think that'd be incorrect to say. Yes he is a very aggressive player in the game, but most of that mainly comes from the fact that he was raised in an environment where he had to win, and working hard allowed him to keep his mind off other things in his life that might have been troubling him at the time.

In all honesty Kade was always going to leave in the family visit episode since it offered several things I'd need. 1.) After the Derek Blindside there would not be many changes in dynamic so the family visitors would be a good way to fill the episode up without endless strategy and 2.) Kade's story was always going to be at it's climax in this round. All of the little things that have been sprinkled throughout the season as bits of personal info, along with what was revealed this episode set up enough of the mystery to be solved, without being too blatant about it... And thankfully it seems that quite a good chunk of people know what exactly was going on, and thus what was said to him in those final panels to make him surrender. Like Derek's blindside. Bits and pieces of this story had been explained throughout the season, and now that the full story is available now... Wonder how earlier things he said will be read again?

Despite the fact that he was controversial, I think Kade was a great villain who really was the driving force for the second act of the game, however. This was the ideal spot for him to leave. For the story I wanted to tell, it would not have made sense for him to leave any earlier, or any later. So yes... Kade Spicer, for one of the biggest characters of the season. It'll be sad to see you go for some, and a celebration for others.

And the villain falls.

Kade was great. Easily one of the best antagonists that's been in SFC. And him getting tricked by the very person he had been using the entire time is perfect. Overall, a great character.

@ChronoAlone: I knew from when the Kade and Jeannie plot started she would be the one to take him down. It was just fitting.

Reply Blastoise_FTW, July 6th, 2018, 10:14 pm

Absolutely demolished. The way it should've been. You made for an interesting villain, Kade, I guess

Reply SWSU-Master, July 6th, 2018, 11:28 pm

@Blastoise_FTW: I guess so.

Reply vanilladream, July 6th, 2018, 10:17 pm

Yeah, kinda figured this was Kade's curtain call but he leaves a great villain. Though this does make me wonder who will bring the greatest source of antagonism in these final episodes. I'm sure someone will step up to fill the role.

I'll be rooting for Jeannie to win from this point forward. Go Jeannie!

Reply SWSU-Master, July 6th, 2018, 11:29 pm

@vanilladream: Or maybe it'll be a freeforall with no main villain

Reply dat4yc, July 6th, 2018, 10:18 pm

Yes, I both thought and hoped this is what was going to happen this tribal. Kade was set up too perfectly for a downfall so I’m glad this is where it happened. Especially since Jeannie was the one to seal his fate in the end.

Kade was pretty great as the villain of the season. I know a lot of people were bothered by a ‘lack of personality’ but I didn’t really see that. Some people are just subdued and analytical by nature and that was obviously what Kade was (until these past two tribals obviously). He was threatening enough to be a believable villain but didn’t last too long to outstay his welcome. Glad for his role in the season even if he wasn’t my favorite.

Rankings:

Ollie > Mele > Parmesan > Jenny > Jeannie > Josh

@dat4yc: Yeah sometimes... it really is just that obvious XD

Weeby Spice When I wrote Kade’s application, the only thing I had in mind for him was being the guy who... well, I’m pretty sure you’ve all figured it out by now. I was definitely not expecting him to be the villain of the season, but I guess when your character is written to do amoral things, you should expect that kind of portrayal. So despite not expecting it, I do think Survivor Supervillain Kade was portrayed pretty well. My only complaint is that I think he was getting everything he wanted for way too long. I would’ve liked some more of his Not So Stoic side to come out earlier, because I did write him to have a bit of a temper problem. But more than anything else, I wanted him to be portrayed as negatively as possible despite that *one* sympathetic thing, kind of like Shaega. And you know what? I got what I wanted, even at the cost of tearing the fanbase in half.

Well, one thing’s for sure. I’m never getting a character with a long and developed backstory submitted again after this.

@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Well never say never...

There's still one thing I feel like wasn't answered about Kade unless I missed something. Why was Kade in the hospital before the season started and in so much pain? Or was there just not really any explanation to that besides the fact he was in the hospital?

Reply SWSU-Master, July 6th, 2018, 11:33 pm

@Guest: Almost like it was self inflicted to make an alibi.

Uh.....wow. I expected Kade to go home this TC, but that was MUCH more dramatic than I was expecting! Bravo! I honestly didn't think I'd get the OTT finish for Kade I was looking forward to (last TC was good, but felt off to me for the antagonist finisher), but this TC really did the trick! While Kade might have been divisive for some, I liked him quite a lot as an antagonist. He wasn't needlessly evil, and while things went his way a lot, he didn't feel like the story was shifting in his way for no reason. I can't exactly say I was rooting for him to stay since, ya know, he's the antagonist, but Kade brought a lot to this season, and I'm glad he was here.

@anime9001: And for the things that did swing his way. The major ones like Jahira/CutieCats eliminations... I felt like I explained as well as I could how those worked.

Reply SkySurfer, July 7th, 2018, 4:24 am

This was much more entertaining than an usual unanimous vote. At least no one of the other six contestants tried something stupid to change the vote and Jeannie's troll tactics worked even better than the time when Lester was still around.

I should actually feel happy that Kade finally left. He was horrible to Jeannie since making that first wish and loved to provoke on any possible occasion. However once the season is over, he will definitely rank higher for me than participants like Amadeus, Lester and especially Tony. Why? Cause he really impressed me with his manipulation skills and challenge performances. Just as I already mentioned in the Jahira boot episode, he was a villain to remember and an enrichment for this season.

I guess it just got harder for the remaining contestants to agree on a main target now...

Reply RedBeryl, July 7th, 2018, 6:37 am

Aw. I was hoping for more evil plottings. This TC was kind of a letdown; all of his scramblings just to come up short. Alas.

In the mean time, I suppose I shall have to content myself on actually figuring out who's gonna win.

Reply qazox, July 7th, 2018, 9:01 am

About damn time.

Ollie's march to the finals goes on...

@GaryHawkinsLandscaper or SWSU I'd love to know exactly how Jenny knew Kade was lying. But i will wait until the end.

Reply landis963, July 7th, 2018, 7:57 pm

@qazox: I'm not either of those people, but if I had to hazard a guess... Jenny was raised by a supervillain, one who considers himself clever. Turns of phrase such as "I saw to it personally that there was no pain." (paraphrasing, but you get the idea) are giant red flags, and Jenny probably heard similar dodges every time the heroes tried to bring Dr. Wily in peacefully.

Reply Sonofhades, July 7th, 2018, 6:21 pm

It is what it is. I'll give Kade some credit for being willing to do whatever it took to win, but he definitely lost some points for being willing to kill another contestant. He was a fun villain, but I'm pretty glad he's gone.
