Fan Characters will be competing for $1,000,000.
And with that we have our 15th winner, and SFC's first perfect game... one that was not supposed to happen. More Details shall be seen in the Note which will be up soon.
Not supposed to happen? Darn right. Taro sucked lol.
@Vilecheese: As I mentioned in the notes... Freak Accident
@SWSU-Master: Honestly, after reading your notes I feel a lot better that this wasn't the intended route because I honestly thought that this whole Taro winning so easily thing was blatant author favoritism on your part.
@Vilecheese: My original intention with him.... If the Reference makes sense. Is Taro was meant to be the Silent Man in the Circle. Pretty much taking that route with his character arc, but instead of being silent and boring, he'd just be pleasant and nonconfrontational
@SWSU-Master: That reference makes sense.
Well, not too surprising. But, a good win either way.
I would do the rankings with explanations, but that would take a while, so I'll just do this:
Awesome: Daisuke, Marie, Zach, Xeradonus, Shaega
Cool: Ky, Taro, Freddy
Alright: Gekkota, Leah, Lea, Tamara, Billy, Luna
Bad: Luna, Brandi, Juli, Cha'telle
No: Sylvia, Dustin, Cordelia
@ChronoAlone: I can live with that ranking. Skews towards positive lol
The Endless Summer School
I almost don't want to be too hard on Dustin, because at the very least, he wasn't mean to anyone. He's nice and honest, but still, I can only take so much stupid. You really shouldn't be so honest when you know fully well that you're not a smart thinker. That jury performance was terrible. Much like Daisuke, Dustin is someone who should not have tried to play Survivor, even if he was forced into it most of the time.
I Did It All for Tanooki
I think I was one of the first people to peg Taro as the winner, though I don't think I said anything about it until the early episodes of the merge. Now that I think about everything he's done, however, I don't think he's THAT great a winner. I can respect under the radar gameplay, but here's the thing: his entire strategy was based around gathering information from everyone while pretending to be Chef Psychiatrist. That idea's ingenious, but he didn't use it to pull off any big strategic moves outside of poisoning everyone so he could win a challenge. He had so much potential, and it bugs me that he never took advantage of his strategy.
Taro's still a good winner despite all that, and I'm happy it was someone like him who played the first perfect game.
And with one long project coming to an end for the time being, it's time for me to focus my attention to another long project that is bound to ruin my life once again.
Watching Big Brother for the first time.
So... what do we do now, now that the season's over?
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: The biggest problem was that he was not only using a good strategy, but he was also using that strategy on idiots. In a different season, other characters might not have fell for that strategy. Regardless, it worked for Taro and got him the perfect game.
@Guest: I think it was less idiots, and more of just a very volitile and paranoid cast. As he said in the FTC, he came in expecting to do scheming, but the atmosphere of the game tipped him off that it wouldnt be a good move so he went the Sushi route.
Had he tried the Sushi Route on a Different season, might not have worked, just like how the strategic route wouldnt have worked this season.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: The thing about Taro's game is, it wouldn't have made sense for him to do those big moves.
He was pretty much doing an "Anyone but Me" Strategy, so if he wasn't being directly targeted, he'd continue to make bonds and be friends with everyone. Making Big Moves would have made him a Visible threat, when his whole thing was to be a sleeper. One that nobody expects.
OMG THAT WAS SUCH A SHOCK! Just kidding, we all saw this coming. I personally loved Taro and wanted him to win from a long time back, and Im glad with this result. However, my only major complaint is how painfully obvious it was. Towards the end, Sylvia was clearly the only real threat to a Taro win, but even that was unlikely. Once she was out, it became a forgone conclusion. Overall, I'd rank this as a mid-tier season. Pretty good, but not amazing. Taro is a pretty awesome winner though!
@DrMarble: There's always that point in seasons when the winner becomes obvious, I was actually surprised by how late in the game this season was before it reached that point with Taro.
My Promised Rant
Heh…….well, I said I would do this…..like, half a dozen times. And I’m not gonna go back now. However, I’d like to preface this once again by apologizing for my overtly critical analysis of this whole thing, and that I don’t mean any offense in doing so. It’s….just something I need to get off my chest, or I’m going to spend the first half of next season brooding over the ending of this one. So without further ado….
WHY I PERSONALLY BELIEVE TARO IS THE WORST WINNER IN SFC HISTORY
Where to begin….. Well, when I think of Survivor. I think of a game where you have to play against 20 or so people in a game of mind and body in an attempt to be the last one standing. Taro….doesn’t give the impression that he did that in the slightest. What I like about Survivor is the knowledge that a single person added, subtracted, or exchanged in a single season has the potential to change the results of every single thing that happens. You have to play around those who are around you, and your game plan has to adapt to their strengths and faults. When I look at Taro, I don’t see a character who outwit, outplayed, and outlasted 20 other contestants to win the game. I see someone who won. And then 18 other people and Ky were added to fill the gap between day 1 and day 39 so they could hand him the trophy.
I say this because there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that happened to Taro before the final 5. And I don’t even mean Taro didn’t do anything. I mean NOONE did anything with Taro! Aside from Ky, Taro was treated like he doesn’t exist. And that….just doesn’t make sense. I can understand people not seeing him as a threat, but people didn’t even treat him like a number. People even acknowledged JAKE’S existence because he was still a NUMBER! I don’t care how fat and friendly he was and filled your bellies. No one once acknowledged him even participating in voting until Leah asked Taro if he’d vote against Ky in the final 6. And the whole “people assumed he wouldn’t vote against the Supers” argument fails quite quickly when literally every single episode had the playmakers of the Normals (Brandi, Sylvia, ect.) and the playmakers of the Supers (Zach, Leah, ect) had everyone scrambling trying to pull whoever they could to their own side! The Normals were repeatedly trying to work with Zach, who was basically the leader of the Supers, even while he's one of the prime targets they're trying to vote out! If they could work together when he was their normal target, how can you claim that no one will even try to ASK Taro if they can work together?
And it’s not even just the passive “Taro should have been involved more” that bugs me. But every time a situation was BEGGING for Taro to be included, he still gets entirely ignored like some kind of ghost! When Zach and Leah told Taro and Ky to vote against Gekkota, nearly directly resulting in Zach’s elimination by voting Brandi if not for Sylvia’s luck vote in their favor, they never bring up the subject again like it was entirely ok that Taro and Ky aren’t as with you as you had previously believed! When Brandi, who despite her paranoia attacks (with or without Sheaga’s help), is probably the most tactical and brain/people smart person in the game, aimed to eliminate a jury threat, she STILL completely ignores Taro’s existence! With Marie’s elimination due to Brandi going rogue once more, SWSU pointed out that it was the intention for Marie’s elimination to be a surprise given that everything else involving Marie had been a surprise this season. However, the reason people were surprised was not because Marie was on the chopping block. It was because Taro had gone through the entire season with absolutely no opposition and eliminating sneaky threats before they are one is what Brandi DOES! But apparently someone who falls directly under what Brandi targets doesn’t matter for Taro.
The worst offense of a character losing face due to an attempt to try and make Taro appear perfect had to be with Sylvia. As many people may recall, Sylvia got a lot of flack for making a number of stupid moves post-merge this season. However……that wasn’t meant to be the case. As you may also remember, Sylvia used to have a pretty big fanbase before the complaints for her rolled in. The turning point for this was on day 28 when Taro talked Sylvia out of voting for him….without her even knowing he was there. When this occurred, everyone blew up on how stupid Sylvia must be, and that everyone’s previous notions for liking her must have been unfounded due to not noticing she’s an idiot. However…..that wasn’t the point of the comic at all. The point of the comic…..was to say “Taro is so good at what he does, he can talk to you and manipulate your mind without you even noticing he’s there.” I realized that was the point of the comic and complained about Taro being needlessly overpowered there as well, and then as if to confirm my thoughts, SWSU went down into the comics defending that it had nothing to do with Sylvia, that it was Taro who did it. Now, the problem with that is…….when you place a guy and an elephant into a room together, and the elephant tells the guy “I don’t exist” and the guy believes the elephant. Anyone watching the events unfold is going to assume that the guy is an IDIOT! Not that the elephant is “Really good at being sneaky.” And you won’t be able to convince watching the events unfold otherwise because HE’S LITERALLY IGNORING THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM! Now, you may be wondering “what about Sylvia’s other stupid moves after this happened?” And my answer to that is……you made them up. The thing about survivor is, you can’t make a move without there being risk. So if you look at the situation and think “this person is stupid so they’re going to make a stupid move,” then anything they do that doesn’t have a 100% chance of success is going to appear stupid due to the risk involved. Now, some people may remember that I spent a considerable amount of time defending Sylvia’s actions this season, and said that I was a fan of Sylvia because of it. However, I felt compelled to defend Sylvia throughout the season because people’s opinions of Sylvia were based off of misinterpreted information. While everyone else watched Sylvia thinking “whatever she does next will probably be stupid,” I watched Sylvia with the 2 criteria “whatever she does next will probably have logic behind it” and “SWSU won’t allow her to do any move that may harm Taro’s game,” allowing me to see that Sylvia’s game was MEANT to be seen as strong and competent. Then, as if confirming my thoughts on Sylvia, at her elimination SWSU defends her once again, stating that she was “extremely competent,” and fairly heavily defending her and her game basically stating that she was a good, strong, and smart character. Now, do I think Sylvia would have kept her whole fanbase if this didn’t happen? Not a chance, given that her alliance went head-to-head with the two most likeable characters of the season. However, she would have been a lot more respected of a character if the whole “Taro’s perfect” thing wasn’t unrealistically being shoved into our faces.
At the end of the day however, and seemingly hypocritical to everything else I have said so far, I think Taro was a very well made character. We understood his motivations and his thoughts. He was funny and extremely likeable. And as a character, I think he was great. However, the story necessary to make him a winner under such perfect circumstances was extremely unrealistic, and forced me to assume that every character who stands close to Taro has to lose a certain number of brain cells while he’s nearby for anything to have worked out like it did around him. Now, I have brought up the topic of unrealistic situations to SWSU in these comics a couple of times before, and the response was always “well, this was going to happen anyways, and doing things this way made things more interesting/exciting.” And to that defense, I say “fair enough.” What’s the point of fiction if you can’t use suspension of disbelief to make things more interesting or exciting. I mean, it happens half the time in TV shows right before a character’s death, where they do something extremely impossible or improbable in their final moment, and people excuse it because of the circumstances. However, it appears that the entire purpose of the suspension of disbelief around Taro’s entire game was for the sole purpose so he could win in the end. Which is the same as saying “these impossible situations occurred for the sole reason that the end we wanted couldn’t happen if we didn’t make it happen.” As some may remember (man, I’ve said that a lot now, haven’t I?), I had a small blow-up after Marie’s elimination. That was because it was at that moment that I realized Taro’s entire impossible game was for the sole purpose of winning. The reason I realized this here was because Marie was the last character who had a dynamic enough character/place in the game who could create an ending that hadn’t started yet, and the only remaining stories that could end the series was the fall of Brandi or the win/loss of Taro. And the reason I was nearly certain it wouldn’t be the former of the two is because Marie was the most important character in Brandi’s story, debatably even more important than Brandi herself. I left out anything about Sheaga because Sheaga’s story couldn’t end the season. That’s because he didn’t care about winning, and nothing could be done that could give Sheaga a true downfall since he had already gained what he wanted coming into this game. That’s why I realized then that this was going to happen, and it bothered me then, and it still bothers me, just how Taro was going to win this…..
And……and……..and I think that’s it. That’s it for now anyways. I’d like to reemphasize that I don’t mean any ill will towards SWSU with my thoughts, but it’s something that I really needed to get off of my chest…. Past that, I would very much like to hear what other people think of this outcome and to my thoughts (to anyone who actually bothered to read all of this). I’d also like to end this with saying that, character-wise, I think this may be the best season yet. Nearly every character felt like they were bursting with their own personality, and everyone felt unique in their own way. So while Taro’s victory puts a sour taste in my mouth for the end of this season, I’d still say that I enjoyed the season as a whole. Thanks for all of the work you put into these comics SWSU, and I hope you don’t mind my complaints too badly.
@anime9001: Well anime I respect your thoughts on this and I even partially agree. As for the worst winner? I find Melanie worse and I found Taro to be a good winner. However, I was not a fan of other characters needing to be somewhat downgraded to make Taro's perfect game come to fruition. I also would have liked Taro to have to overcome an obstacle as well much earlier in the game. Overall, I did enjoy Taro's character but Ky honestly was a much better winner choice imo.
@anime9001: You make some really good points in this rant, and I agree the complete lack of resistance Taro had for his win got a little ridiculous. However, I still think that his win was at least deserved within the story and he was a decently likeable character. So while I can see why you would rank him low in terms of SFC winners, I'm just not seeing the justification for worst winner overall. But this is coming from someone who really liked Taro and considers him one of the better winners so I guess that's probably just gonna be a point we're never gonna see eye to eye on XD. Overall, I'm glad you still enjoyed the season to some degree though! (I still think that Shaega's writing alone makes this one of my favorites, as you can see from my character rankings lol)
@dat4yc: Yeah, my main reason for bluntly stating Taro is the worst winner for me is because I've never actually disapproved of a winner before. Even with the likes of Melaine, who many others seem to give her that title, as well as any of the other low-key winners, I still felt that, at least in the story they were in, that they earned the win. They had a place in the story, and even if their win felt obvious, it was due to them and the characters that were around them and not the universe just sorta willing it to happen. So even if I didn't like a particular winner, I'd still respect that they won. Taro just....doesn't do that for me.
As for Sheaga, I completely agree that he really helped to make this season. I'd go as far to say that Sheaga was the single best written character in the season. And in a season with nearly every character having good writing, and a number of them having great writing, that's not a small accomplishment~
@anime9001: Oh I've been waiting for this, so I'll reply with each point.
"You have to play around those who are around you, and your game plan has to adapt to their strengths and faults."
Which is what Taro did, as mentioned the Sushi Shack was not the Initial Plan, but when he saw the people he was playing with, he knew he had to stand back and let some of the big personalities take each other out. Had it been a season like SFC14 he would not have used that strategy.
For the point about nothing happening to him before the Final 5. Most of that is explained because he wasn't supposed to win, and so it wouldn't have been a problem there. But since he did win, I couldn't rewrite the script that much or else things would go wonky early on. So he was just always a "Pawn" in Zach and Leah's corner. Everyone knew where he stood and due to her lack of game talk, nobody felt strategizing would help.
Part of the being ignored like a ghost part, was because there was always a bigger threat. In terms of Power, Strategy, and Jury Threats. I do believe that Marie would have beaten Taro in a jury vote, so it was NOT a bad move on Brandi's part, she was going after a Jury threat and she got one.
The Sylvia thing was meant to be a gag comic that didn't go down as planned. It was meant to show that talking around Taro had just become so common (Which even before this comic. This had been done. Alot.) The Intention of that comic wasn't to show Taro as some great mastermind, it was really just meant to be kind of a funny comic with a silly plotline. Clearly did not work out that way, and nothing I can say can change how it was received.
As with your Final Point, I agree with some of your points, but I'd also point to the Notes which would probably explain MOST of the issues, given that I had never initially planned for Taro to win during the planning phases, and thus needed to insert things to make his win justifiable given he played a very low key game.
@SWSU-Master: I appreciate the response! I'll just have a short response to each of your responses as well~
I was more talking about how Taro's plan didn't seem to adjust for the individual players. Sure, the whole "Sushi Shack" thing worked as a whole, but he never had to adjust his strategy in the slightest for anyone in particular.
O.O Ok, That explains a lot. Fair enough.
I don't really disagree with you. Though I was more talking about that Brandi doesn't even mention acknowledging him here. Like, if we heard Brandi have any sort of deliberation between Marie and Taro I think that would have been fine, but even after the vote, she brought up that it was only between Marie and Ky. That just rubbed me the wrong way.
And you're right. Hearing that explanation really did put things in perspective. I still stand that I think some things could have been handled better, but given the situation I can't really complain too much. Heh, well, more than I already have that is.
And just as an aside, from the Notes I agree that the Taro/Ky dynamic was a great addition in the rewrite. Despite my complaints on the winner story, I feel that their dynamic was extremely well executed~
@anime9001: I have to agree with most of this.
Yay Taro! Good winner to a great season! Can't wait for the next!
Well here come the incredibly long winded character rankings!
20th: Cha’Telle – Yeah, I don’t really have much to say about Cha’Telle. He was just kinda annoying and his archetype wasn’t one of my favorites. Though I must say that my least favorite character leaving first definitely speaks volumes on the quality of the characters this season.
19th: Luna – She really wasn’t bad, she just had no real character outside of strategy and her personality was almost nonexistent (at least what we were shown of her). She was a good character to be the good to Xeradonus’ evil in the beginning, but she did leave before she wore out her welcome
18th: Lea- It was cool to see a Ditto play this game, but she ended up being pretty inconsequential. I’m still not entirely sure what her plan was, as it seemed the whole time her purpose was just to troll Leah. Which I guess is pretty funny now that I think about it. Well, whatever, still pretty boring and thought she left at just the right time.
17th: Cordelia – Yeah Cordelia sucked lol. She is higher than the first three simply because she was a more well developed character, but she was just not pleasant at all, which I think was the point. Her strategy of just lying to get her way was pretty interesting to see implemented, but I was not a fan of how long she was able to get away with it. Though, once again, props to SWSU for eliminating her before she got TOO unbearable.
16th: Tamara – I thought she had some pretty funny moments, though she was definitely the least consequential and interesting of the so called “Bitches Coven”. However, she places higher than Cordelia simply because I enjoyed her character much more.
15th: Juli – I initially liked Juli quite a bit in the early stages of the game when she was attempting to target Gekkota and Luna with the help of Lea’s powers, but it was after the swap where she started to become a bit of a nuisance. Her complaining and witch hunt against Gekkota became annoying to watch. But I still believe that she could benefit from a second chance, and if that were to happen, I would hope to see more of pre swap Juli.
14th: Billy – Nothing against Billy, he was hilarious and played his part in the season perfectly. I just don’t feel justified in putting him above any of the following players because of how ultimately irrelevant he was. But that scene with him annoying the shit out of Xeradonus will forever be one of my favorite moments in SFC history.
13th: Leah – She was the only uninteresting character to make the merge, and I kept waiting for her story to pick up, but it never really did after Lea left. It did seem she was only there for the ironic final 6 exit. However, she did have some funny moments (the drunken night after the merge was AWESOME) and was a good supporting character for other bigger characters such as Ky Sylvia and Zach.
12th: Sylvia – I really enjoyed her in the early stages of the game, and she was my winner pick at first. However, after the merge it seemed like she was a different person playing the game, and she became much less enjoyable. She did play the role she was given pretty nicely for the most part, but I guess I just didn’t really like her role in the season either. She just seemed to have a bunch of storylines that didn’t really go anywhere, in particular her rivalries with Brandi and Leah. In the end, she didn’t really have a direct hand in their eliminations (Brandi is arguable, but the whole tribe had ganged up on her at that point anyway), so Sylvia’s place in the narrative got a little muddled. My bet is she could end up doing better in a future season if she were allied with different people.
11th: Freddy – Man I wish he lasted longer! I was so sure he was gonna go deep in this game that my heart broke when Brandi so cruelly blindsided him. I would really like to see him back in a possible future all-star season just to see if he would live up to the potential I think he has.
10th: Dustin – I still think Dustin is pretty funny. Sure he was balls to the wall stupid, but I still found it pretty endearing, not frustrating. It was cool that his whole storyline was the Normal that also was the immunity beast, as normally one would think that a Super would have ended up being the biggest challenge threat. However, him winning immunity constantly did get a little old, at least for me. All in all, he was good fun, but a little too one dimensional for my taste.
9th: Gekkota – I always thought Gekkota, along with Dustin, was a character that got a great deal of undeserved hate. Sure she went against Ky and Daisuke and allied with less desirable people, but I really enjoyed her. I found her power to be interesting, and thought she was good narrator for the happenings on post swap Golgora. Also, her boot tribal was pretty crazy, as all merge tribals should be.
8th: Brandi – Well. What do I say about Brandi. She was easily the most visible character this season, and arguably had the most impact on the season as a whole. The whole season I hated on her, and it wasn’t until the very end that I finally warmed up to her and saw her for the incredible character that she was. She was certainly no saint, but most of the hate directed toward her was most likely due to Shaega’s screwing with her mind using Paranoia. She made huge moves, some working out in her favor (the Freddy/Luna boots), others not (the Marie boot). She was incredibly complex as she wanted to be seen as a fair and just person, but she still wanted to play a cutthroat game. Say what you will about her, but she played to win, and she definitely left her mark.
7th: Xeradonus – Ohhhhh Xeradonus… What a beautifully despicable demon lord he was. His evil antics were the absolute star of the first two episodes of this season, in just how unintentionally hilarious he was. And he wasn’t even an unimportant comic relief character like I first thought he would be, since Paranoia possessing Shaega gave birth to the true villain of the season. This season wouldn’t have been the same without Xeradonus and his spirits of the damned, and I am very glad we were able to experience him.
6th: Zach – Zach was my next winner pick after I started to lose faith in Sylvia. I just loved his level headed approach to the game and I enjoyed him beginning to shed is loner personality and begin to become friendly with the people around him (my favorite example of this being when he built sandcastles with Ky). Sure he was kinda boring early on, but once the swap happened and he was away from Luna and Gekkota, he improved significantly. I’m still a little sad he got booted as early as he did, as I would have loved to see him go farther or even win.
5th: Marie – God I loved Marie. She was just so nice, similar to Ky, though her “curse” and naivety definitely negatively impacted her in the early stages of the game. Her early relationship with Freddy was cute and her relationship with Daisuke was one of my favorite storylines in this whole season (which is why I wished it lasted a liiiiitle longer). Her rivalry with Brandi and Cordelia was fun, and although it sucked that Brandi ended up coming out on top, I’m still glad that she was able to get rid of Cordelia in the end.
4th: Daisuke – I think Daisuke is the only character this season, besides maybe Zach, that had a boot time that I was unsatisfied with. Don’t get me wrong, him leaving right before the merge was probably the best time for him to go, or else it probably would have led to him dominating most of the challenges. I’m just sooo disappointed in how little of the Marisuke storyline we were able to get. Daisuke was another amazing character this season, mostly because the major complaints I had with him could be attributed to Shaega’s antics with Paranoia. Really hope he comes back for a future season, as I think he has even more potential.
3rd: Taro – I do think that Taro probably made the best winner of this season, though I can see the arguments for Ky or Marie also. His style of gameplay wasn’t very flashy and I saw that it turned a few people off, but I thought he played his game BRILLIANTLY. He was always one of the funnier characters this season, his relationship with Ky was awesome, and the look into his personal life was interesting. He was not as well fleshed out a character as the top two, but he was still very well done for the slightly smaller amount of screen time he had comparatively. Overall, not the greatest winner in the series, but certainly not one of the worst either. I am glad he ended up on top, as it gave us a fitting end to a brilliant season.
2nd: Ky – Oh Ky, he was so…. Ky. I really enjoyed his extremely positive outlook on everything, and his ability to stay kind to everyone throughout the game was pretty impressive. His story was interesting, his relationship with Taro was awesome (déjà vu lol), and his random acts of hilarity had me laughing out loud several times. It was cool to have such an over the top character with some actual depth. And that tribal council with the fight between him and Shaega will forever be one of my favorite SFC moments. Sometimes it’s good to have a character that is just fun to watch, and Ky was definitely that.
1st: Shaega – My GOD, Shaega was an awesome villain. I found him kinda amusing pre merge when he was stiff and emotionless, and loved how he gradually became more focused on attempting to feel emotions that he hadn’t previously experienced (such as when he voted for Sylvia at Freddy’s boot tribal in an attempt to feel humor). Then, when he found Paranoia, he got even better. His newfound emotions turned him into a raging sociopath that wanted to feel all of the “best” emotions (which he believed were the not so great ones) and even tried to bring out the rage in his fellow players, specifically Ky. This makes for one of the more unique villain motivations I have ever seen. And then, his realization at the end of what horrible emotions he was inflicting on others indicating that he may not be the completely heartless bastard we thought he was completed his story arc BEAUTIFULLY. Out of everyone this season, I want to see him again the most. Love him or hate him, Shaega had a HUGE impact on this season and I think he may be one of the best characters in the series.
It took me a really long time to decide between Shaega and Ky as the best character as I liked them for completely different reasons, but I went with Shaega just because of how well written he was. Ky would definitely win if the list was who I would want to hang out with the most though XD
@dat4yc: Very well thought out list, I always enjoy seeing posts like these
@dat4yc: It seemed more like Marie loved Dai while Dai just seemed to view her as a best friend.
Re: anime9001's post.
That was actually one of the most erudite posts I've seen in here in a long time. I disagree myself that Taro is the worst winner, but you made a very poignant and substantial argument that if I didn't have an opinion already it would likely sway my thoughts.
One thing the three most hated seasons have in common with each other is that they all find ways to piss off the audience. Midway Island pissed us off by letting two morons give someone an undeservingly easy victory. Battle of the Tribes did it by having too much negativity and going beyond the impossible in really bad ways. As for this season? Well... I think most of the blame can be directed at a psychotic computer program who cheated his way to an impossibly impressive... ninth place.
I like to call him Enter the Dragging, because whether he's in the game or out of the game, everything just drags on so slowly. Now, one of the main complaints everyone has about Enter is his ICM (Idol Copy Machine) strategy, which a lot of people found to be mildly overpowered. Now, re-reading the season, I found him surprisingly easy to ignore outside of challenges and Tribal Councils. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad that he didn't get any confessionals until his boot episode. But regardless, it's thanks to him that some of the more interesting characters left early, which really hurts the season, in my opinion. It's only fitting that he was eliminated by trying to play the most obvious non-idol since Ozzy's stick. What a digital dummy!
Now I have to talk about something that isn't Enter. I think the canons, or rather, the "Canredons" (by god is Probst an idiot), stole the show this time around. The fans did almost nothing for me. Like I said, a few of the more interesting canons left early, which upset me. Sad that we knew Sheldon was destined to leave early. But even so, looking past Enter, a few of them were still pretty good. Bowser was just epic in every sense, and Maggie was also done very well. I know nothing about The Walking Dead, so I couldn't tell you if this was butchering her character or not. Don't care, I love it anyway. Also, let's not forget Lola Bunny and the SpongeBob from the early 2000's whom we all missed so much. It's still puzzling how this pair of non-players made it to the Final 2 plus Shelby.
While this season had it's share of positives and negatives, everything else this season had to offer was just boring. I don't think it's nearly as bad as SFC8 and SFC10. It's basically just the same thing as the first Fans vs. Canons season, and although this season has a few more things to offer, I'd have to think long and hard about which season I prefer.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: I didn't like season 12. It's hard to root for anyone when that digital dummy was hogging the screentime and breaking the game in twain. Plus two goats and a slacker made it to the finals. It was anticlimactic.
Who cares. Just glad it's over.
@Tailslover13: Well thanks for reading
@SWSU-Master: Leave me alone.
@Tailslover13: Geez I thought you'd be the most happy with the winner :(
@coolkyledude: Nope, I'm disgusted. That's all I'll say.
Well.... That's what I get for second-guessing myself. Congrats, Taro!
From readin' SWSU's notes, I guess it's possible that it's a return of many characters ala 'Heroes vs Villains', or some other version of 'All-Stars' or maybe even 'Fans vs. Favorites'. Kind of a shame: I sent in a few applications... so sad I'll have to wait for Season 17 for a better shot. I'll keep sendin' them in, though!
@RedBeryl: That is a downside of choosing to do Returning Seasons since the Apps I get have to get bumped back a season.
@SWSU-Master: True, but I'm willing to wait if I get to see some returning favorites that I've loved from previous seasons.
Eh, not really lol. Congrats to Taro, but I will always know in my heart, that...
I like blondes.
SFC 15 REVIEW TYPE THINGIE
This season started off amazingly. The season had an original and interesting theme and division, a phenomenal cast, and great interactions and moments in the first 3-ish episodes. I was legitimately in love with the season, and up until that point it was my overall favorite so far.
So, when did that change? What broke the spell for me?
For me, it was Brandi. As for when, I first got suspicious about her at the end of episode four. The entire episode, it seemed to me, was leading up to a Brandi blindside with all of her lies and deceit seemingly catch up to her, what with her breakdown and people starting to tire of her overactive gameplay. And yet, after the challenge... she not only doesn't get targeted by anybody, but she single-handedly orchestrates a 3-2-2-1 blindside on her closest ally? Those two comics were what started to make me sour to the season. But even after that, I was willing to let it slide and give it another chance. Maybe Brandi's downfall was in the next couple of episodes?
No it was not. Instead she eventually gets mostly forgiven and pulls off another (arguably rule-breaking) power play in the next Tribal when she stands up next to Jeff and watches everyone as they vote, skating by with only a single vote against her. For the rest of the premerge, she continues to dominate her tribe without a blindside being so much as discussed by anyone other than Marie and Daisuke (one of whom doesn't survive to the merge).
I think I've made my problem with her, as well as this season as a whole, clear. Characters in this season seemed to get away with way too much, with minimal consequences (in Brandi's case until the F7). Taro is also guilty of this as well, as I mentioned a few comics ago, having never been in danger until the final 4, and *poisoning* people to stay alive. And yet, despite this 'evil' move - which was mentioned at the next Tribal in front of the jury, I believe - never nets Taro any negative consequences. On the flip side, there are a few instances where *the wrong character* gets blamed for something that they had little choice for. For example, Dustin being blamed by Sylvia for Brandi playing her idol on him to save him. Maybe it's in her character, but it still felt really unfair and pointless. And considering it was more or less resolved afterward, it felt awfully pointless.
Which brings me to my next point. There are a multitude of scenes in this season that felt pointless, as in they didn't influence any later events or were resolved pretty much immediately. Two examples come to mind - Dustin and Sylvia's fight in part 2 of the double boot - they began working together again almost right away, and Dustin turned on her at F4 for reasons completely unrelated. The other is - I bring up again because I still can't wrap my head around it - when Sylvia told Taro she was targeting him. Given how that episode's targets ended up being Brandi and Zach, and the names that Sylvia brought up were Leah and Taro (eventually crossing off Taro), all that comic served to do was eliminate Sylvia as a winner contender, derail her character and arguably make her out to be one of the stupidest players ever.
On a more positive note, you outdid yourself again visually. The character designs, the environment, and the effects looked amazing. I didn't think there could be a bigger difference between season 1 and season 14, well like every prediction I've made this season I was wrong again. Really well done :)
Also, the cast. There was a dud or two, but the cast as a whole all brought something and I loved the vast majority of them at some point in time. I soured on some, and some grew on me over time, but it was an amazing cast. Well done.
Sorry for being mostly negative in this review. There were a couple glaring issues that I had with the season that I wanted to mention. I still enjoyed the season for the most part, and I'm looking forward to SFC16 :)
Edit after reading notes: That did clear up some things, thanks. It didn't erase my problems with the season, but it did explain some. So thanks for that btw.
@coolkyledude: With the characters such as Brandi and Taro getting away with things, with was more of just the skill. Since Brandi had the power to emotionally manipulate people and had a tight hold on everyone. I knew it would be frustrating for some, but that was how I imagined her character playing.
For the Brandi boot, with Dustin and Sylvia, since there's 3 comics to explain why things happened, they had to be really quick reasons. I needed to develop Why Sylvia was pissed, both about being unable to make moves as well as her allies stabbing her in the back, and then reconciling for that move. She was pissed at Dustin, but her being pissed at Brandi was a given so no need to focus on that.
But I do appreciate the review, hopefully there wont be any major hiccups I need to improvise around next season
Sorry I'm late! Now let's get my traditional end-of-season review out of the way!
First off, the season's theme was awesome. Normals vs. Supers always brings out the best in the normals.
Second off: I really like the perpetually-shifting web of alliances, constant backstabs, and overall tension.
Third off: it wasn't perfect. The villainous characters in the season got tiresome by virtue of getting away with things for far too long. Brandi was unchallenged in her position of power for a while, despite being allied with some of the most loathsome players and having bullied people unto crying. Cordelia got away with lying to literally every person in the season for weeks. Shaega almost got away with torturing the entire cast psychologically and sometimes physically. I will say this much, though. Sylvia and Dustin got what they deserved, when they deserved it.
Fourth: Some of your strongest characters came out of this season. I'm looking at Ky and Taro, especially. Plus Brandi and Shaega did make great love-to-hate villains.
The main problem I (and everybody) has with this season so far is that Taro really got to coast to the ending. Don't get me wrong, I'm probably one of the biggest Taro fans in the comments section. I love furry Richard Hatch. :3 Still, it was a good time and Taro stayed sympathetic and amusing.
And as my last point, there's an odd common thread among a lot of these posts as of late. Namely, that a lot of characters from this season would be good candidates for an All-Stars season. I really, really agree. Ky, Freddy, Zach, and Marie would be good choices in particular.
Overall, a pretty decent season. I had a lot of emotional investment in this one, which is more than you can say for most works of fiction. It was gorgeous and well-written. I can't wait for season 16!
@Sonofhades: Oddly the Richard Hatch Parallels were completely unplanned. But they totally fit
A well-deserved unanimous victory for Taro but at least Dustin lost with a funny hairstyle.
While Dustin was no jerk, I wished someone else would have reached the finals with Taro. Most of Dustin's decisions didn't benefit him at all, neither keeping Taro nor risking Sylvia's departure. Winning so many challenges couldn't impress me in the end, Brenton for example (who I loved to pick as a comparison) was much more likeable, more of a real friend and smarter, too. Reading the author notes I guess our reactions to Dustin were totally intended, heh...
Taro played a close to perfect game. He managed to stay in the background while influencing the others a lot, he even managed to protect Ky for such a long time. That's very, very impressive, especially cause only the food poisoning would be worth critizing here and this is just a tiny stain on Taro's whole game. It's interesting to know that he wasn't meant to be sole survivor in the beginning. Maybe he would still have been my favourite in the end.
Too bad this season is already over, it's among my favourite seasons, especially because of its great cast. Ok, the supers were more likeable in general but this doesn't change my opinion that almost none of the survivors felt expendable. I even felt thankful for some of the early boots.
I am really looking forward to SFC16 and the familiar faces. I'll definitely be back when the season starts. Bye till then ;)
From worst to best: Cha'Telle - Tamara - Lea - Cordelia - Brandi - Dustin - Luna - Billy - Juli - Xeradonus - Freddy - Shaega - Leah - Daisuke - Gekkota - Sylvia - Zach - Marie - Ky - Taro
@SkySurfer: See ya when SFC16 starts... Hopefully
Very good season, but still not too hot on Taro. He played a good game, obviously since he won unanimously, but it feels like he wasn't really present at all. I'm all for different types of winners, as long as they have distinctive journeys. It really felt like Taro was a peripheral character who bumbled his way into the finale.
Don't want to complain too much, the season was really strong with a good cast. Good luck with the next one!
@uhbihbjnk: As the notes said. Part of it was due to him initially not having a winners story. But the other half was, he intentionally tried to not be present. Since when people were present, they became targets. He recognized that and stayed away from it
After seeing the notes, yeah I think you did good with what was handed to you, but I still don't like Taro :/.
Marie (It was really hard to decide between her and Ky.)
Ky (Don’t really need an explanation for why he is so high.)
Shaega (Probably the most complex character this season. Really hope he comes back.)
Daisuke (Three things: was robbed of a jury spot, Daire forever, and all-around a big dork.)
Cordelia (Great Villain.)
Brandi (She had a few stumbling points, but overall she was very solid.)
Xeradonus (What lol’z early boots should aspire to be.)
Leah (She was the rational/normal one without being boring like others.)
Tamara (She was fun for how long she lasted.)
Billy (Amusing but kind of pointless.)
Gekkota (Her strategy, powers, and role were very interesting. She herself, not so much.)
Lea (Solely existed as a twist/part in Leah’s storyline. She did well in those two jobs but still.)
Juli (She is better in TJ’s.)
Sylvia (She is not the worst red-head, that would be Amelia, but she really did bring nothing to the table.)
Freddy (I guess he existed. He didn’t really leave a mark for me besides being an early shocker boot.)
Cha'Telle (There have been better OTTN girls before him/her, but he/she is not the worst.)
Luna (Boring, strat-bot. Only here, because she got out Post-Swap.)
Dustin (Gave the win to Taro instead of Shaega.)
Zach (Boring, strat-bot, douchy, and smug. Pretty bad combination in my opinion.)
Taro (Go away and never come back, pls and thx.)
@Guesty: Well I normally don't bring back winners, so you might be in luck
THe right person won in the end, and our first perfect winner.
I have to say, after reading the notes, I think whoever dropped out last minute is probably screaming internly right now.
Sounds like SFC16 is going to be an All-Stars season, so... yeah I'm looking forward to it. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I'm always open to a new PM for Juli's return SWSU. *runs under a couch and hides* She got better guys promise!
Now for my rankings.. I'll omit Juli from them to avoid bias.
Taro > Shaega > Ky > Gekkota > Lea > Tamara > Zach > Marie > Daisuke > Freddy > Dustin > Sylvia > Luna > Leah > Billy > Xeradonus > Brandi > Cordelia > Cha'Telle
EDIT: Also, now that the season is over, which characters belonged to you and which ones belonged to fans? I can think of six already (Dustin, Luna, Sylvia, Gekkota, Juli, Zach), but that's it.
@TJBambi93: Assuming it is a returning player season, here's who I would like to see come back, excluding winners.
MALES: Slash, Spikey, Max, Delta, Alex, Riku, MTL, Freddie, Crisco, Flaithri, Dwayne, Juiced Up, Sheldon, Sharker, Mike, D.O.T., Stanson, Survivor Critic, Alleio, Damon, Jake/Hawkward, Spinfur, Ivan, Diego, Sgt. Stagg, Ky, Shaega
FEMALES: Pat, Rene, Polly, Yoshia, Bessi Bell, Minnie, Shiki, Lauren, Bo, Manya, Ieaeka, Summer, Tialayla, Foxxy, Zoella, Annabelle, Sasha, Tyra, Thorne, Lea, Juli, Tamara, Gekkota
@TJBambi93: almost none of those people made the merge
@TJBambi93: And I forgot to post my Winner rankings!
Bitsy > Taro > Cherman > Angel > Elise > Marius > Jim > Liz > Ker > Montana > Barney > Lola > Skylar > Jackie > Melanie
I don't get why everyone hates Bitsy. She was one of my favorite SFC characters in the first six seasons.
@TJBambi93: OMG PREACH! Bitsy is one of my ultimate favourite characters! I really don't understand all the Bitsy hate
@TJBambi93: I think the applicants were Cordelia, Dustin, Gekkota, Juli, Leah, Luna, Shaega, Sylvia, Tamara, and Zach.
Well, that was definitely... something.
Taro was a character I thought would get far no matter what, and I really hoped he would. His genuine friendship with Ky is the best dynamic of the season.
As for Dustin, I don't see why he was brought to the finale. While I don't dislike the character, I don't like the way he was portrayed in the late game. He seems like one of those characters that should have left early merge. I'd say his departure should have been just after Marie's, and in his place, Sylvia should have reached the end, making it more climactic.
Obviously, i'm just some random idiot on the internet who likes playing video games and cutting themselves, so my opinion isn't really worth anything.
As for the character ratings:
Ky (You know why.)
Taro (Here's a hint as to why I adore Taro... Ky.)
Shaega (I really don't see why so many people hate him. He was an amazing villain.)
Marie (Truly one of the most innocent players of this season, she was a great character to root for.)
Daisuke (Do I need to explain? This guy was full of positive energy, and did amazingly in the challenges.)
Freddy (He was an interesting and loyal character, eliminated only due to paranoia affecting Brandi. Seems like a shitty way to go.)
Xeradonus (YES. A TRULY EVIL CHARACTER. He didn't need to get far, as he completed his role as the villain, and managed to create another villain for later in the season.)
Billy (He had a few laughs along the way, but he was overall an average character.)
Brandi (Most people dislike Brandi. I don't see why. She always stuck to her ideals, and the only reason she did things wrong was because of Shaega and Paranoia. She tried her best, and managed to get Cordelia, so it's all okay.)
Leah (She was a bit boring after Lea left. She was only around so that her and Sylvia could be at each-others necks throughout the season.)
Sylvia (She was an interesting character, pretty much controlling the game after the final seven. She was only eliminated because Dustin is fucking stupid, and i feel she should have been in the finale with Taro.)
Zach (He was more fun after they all realized the presence of a second villain, and i feel he did an entertaining job of trying to find them. Ok, let's face it. He's a bit of a bad-ass. Scaring Paranoia away multiple times.)
Gekkota (I don't really have anything for her, but she beat the shit out of Cordelia, so that's cool.)
Lea (She was the antagonist of the season after Xeradonus was eliminated, and had a good rivalry with Leah. I still don't like her though. Probably just personal opinion.)
Juli (Okay. Let me just say this. I wanted to like Juli. But due to Paranoia rubbing its ugly face all over her tribe, she became a bit of a bitch. She should be lower, but personal opinion strikes again!)
Luna (Hello Stratbot! How are you? What's that? You cannot simulate emotions because you're a robot? Great! Fuck off!)
Dustin (Okay. I would have LOVED Dustin as a character if he hadn't made it this far in the merge. As I said earlier in this comment, he shouldn't have made it this far at all. He was supposed to be an idiot who kept doing well in challenges. I get that. But couldn't he be an idiot who did well in challenges until he was eliminated 8th?)
Cha'telle (I get that you're a boy. I get that you think people might judge you for that. What I don't get is why you act like a total cunt, making people judge you anyway!)
DIAF (Die In A Fire):
Tamara and Cordelia (I'm writing these two as one because I can't stand either of them and I genuinely don't want to write any more about them than I need to. Cordelia was a cunt. Tamara was a cunt who was friends with Cordelia. The End.)
SFC 16 seems like it will be a fun season, and I genuinely hope it's a Fans V Favorites. That way, we might get to spend more time with Ky, AND meet new people to hate!
Doesn't that sound fun!?
This has been your friendly neighborhood Rob0lax.
PS: I never actually cut myself. That requires effort, which is something I don't have.
@Robolax7: Glad you didn't cut yourself. That'd be bad
Woo. Go Taro. Good for you Fatso.
Honestly I just really wanted to see more of Ky and Marisuke. Marisuke is forever. Marisuke is love. Marisuke is everything. Ok enough Marisuke perfection.
20. Cordelia - Vile bitch. Never want to see her again. She was annoying af and the lying game BS she played was just awful to watch.
19. Cha'Telle - I don't really hate him, but I also don't really give a fuck about him. Glad he was first boot so I didn't have to deal with his OTTN shit.
18. Luna - Boring. Ew. She had no personality whatsoever and she was just dull. Too gamebotty and just unpleasant.
17. Shaega - Boo, you whore! He sucked. Wish his story wasn't so lopsided, he was a failure of a villain and he wasn't the least bit interesting. He should go and join the idol who he threw at the firepit.
16. Juli - Who? I feel neutral about her, but she was eh. Irrelevant and just annoying.
15. Tamara - Ew. You were annoying. Irrelevant fat bitch. Nice try playing the villain card but you ain't some strategic goddess boo.
14. Lea - Irrelevant bae. The ditto form was cute though.
14. Dustin - He made IC comics unbearable and he was just all around kinda meh. I rooted for him at the start but he just got old real quick. Good FTC loser.
13. Gekkota - Her boot was amazing. Gamebotty but I really liked her when she kicked the shit out of Cordelia.
12. Freddy - Irrelevant but he was nice enough and pleasant plus I really liked him.
11. Billy - Cute. His Xeradonut lovestory was just A+ amazing. I loved it.
10. Sylvia - Redhead bitch. Was a big fan of hers early game but I don't really give a fuck about her, but I'll rank her here 'cuz she was good premerge.
9. Xeradonus - Amazing. I loved every single moment he was included. His two episode arc was perfect. No doubt would rank higher if he made it more far.
8. Leah - Boring. Out of focus. Loved the irony though.
7. Taro - He was an okay winner. His gameplay was eh yes but still he had a perfect game! Tanooki be like winning, yeah.
6. Zach - Boring but I loved him! He had this growth arc that was amazing and I really totally pegged he would won but I guess not.
5. Brandi - Loved this bitch right here. She was an amazing strategist. I was a hater but you know what? Fuck me, that was some BS judgement. I value her and imo she may be the cancer but she was just amazing that you should get past that.
3/4. Marisuke - LOVED THEM. ALL THE GOOD ADJECTIVES THROWING AT THEM. PLEASE RETURN.
1. KY - PERFECT. PLEASE RETURN AS WELL.
@arv0908: At least Ky lasted a long time
Favorite winner by far, dethroning Cherman.
Awesome season, really bad middle part, but the star and end were amazing. Top 5 season for sure.
Dustin (Who looks really wierd here) was a much better runner up than say.. Luke. The OTHER loser of a unanimous vote. Who also was blond, who also played in a gimmick ''x vs y'' season, and lost to a big guy. Hmmm
Here's my full rankings at last.
20 Cordelia: Please die in a fire pit you stupid lying little roo BITCH.
19 Cha'telle: Worst. Firstboot. Ever. Only challenged by that SFC8 bitch I can't remember the name of. Annoying and loud.
18 Brandi: So now everyone loves her? I admit she was pretty overhated, and she was entertaining.. But she was still an annoying paranoid dumbass, even if she was manipulated by Shaega.
17 Luna: *snore* Most boring and most bland of the season. Watching her was a test of endurance. I'm going to bed now. Good night
16 Juli: Everything she did makes me want to pull my hair out. Annoying, bratty, likes to smear people's names more than a politician. I can't fucking escape Splatoon anywhere.
15 Sylvia: GODDAMN this is a bad cast of females. Hungry Scorpion, i'm sorry, but she was shit. She started off boring and everybody adoring her for some reason, and then the swap happened and she got worse and worse from there. Ironically, she became more crabby AFTER being constantly fed Sushi.
14 Gekkota: Don't worry we will get to some males soon.. Gekkota was Luna-lite, props for surviving the squid bitch, but you got flippy floppy at the end and that's what cost you. Also you were very boring.
13 Shaega: Worst male of the cast and still better than half the female cast.. He was a dick and a bully, and kind of turned Brandi into the monster we know her as.. But he was funny at times, and is one of the most interesting and well developed characters ever.
12 Lea: Ditto (She was boring and wasted potential. I was going to submit a pokemon myself but judging by the notes, it's too late now.. Go back to the daycare and get busy, I need those eggs pronto!
11 Dustin: He was a funny idiot at the start, and then he became an annoying idiot. Lost the game by being an idiot. Colby did what he did for reputation. Woo did what he did for honor. Dustin did what he did.. Because the jury fucking told him to?
10 Leah: I love Irony. She was very out of focus for a few episodes and when she was on screen she wasn't very interesting.
9 Zach: Started out pretty boring, and then got 10000 times more interesting after being split up from the bland sisters. I really enjoyed his story about his past and learning to become more social. He's number one on the list of characters this season I expect to return.
8 Freddy: One day Brandi decided she was going to play Eli. And that was the end for Freddy. His little romance with Marie was cute, and he was an interesting character. I expect him for the pre merge returnee season if there ever is one.
7 Tamara: She was a riot when she wanted to be. Best of the bitches coven, Cordelia and Brandi didn't even give a shit when they found out she was booted.. Tamara needs a second chance, where she isn't held down by lying roos and paranoid detectives.
6 Billy: The ONLY good Minion to ever grace a screen of any kind. It's hard to talk about him since he did nothing but admire Xero's donuts and speak a ot of gibberish. He was very cute though.
5 Marie: Far and away the best female on this cast. Despite the curse she was one of the most kindhearted people ever in the comic. Another one screwed by Brandi, I think she needs a second chance.
4 Daisuke: Despite being manipulated by Gaega, Daisuke was always one of the funniest, kindest and.. Some other third thing that's ever been on SFC. Another character I wan't to get a second chance. If he does, it should be with Marie.
3 Taro: The winner. Contrary to what Anime will have you think, he is FAAAAAR from the worst winner. Angel and Bitsy exist. Anyway, his lowkey strategy and friendship with Ky are what made him number 3. He will dominate the all winners season..
2 Xeradonus: For two episodes he was one of the funniest characters I've ever seen. I get that he had to go or he would become Enter and stagnate the game.. *PTSD flashbacks to SFC 12 early merge* I wished he stuck around longer but I know it was for the best. I love him though.
1 Ky: You all saw this coming. Do I even need to explain it? Funny, cute, heartwrenching backstory that doesn't even get him down. Best character from Sonic, which is saying something considering Malik is from Sonic. (Though he actually from the comics according to the cast release)
There you have it. I might have winner and season rankings up soon, but for now, goodbye everyone, see you next season. Love you all! Even Trolldoll and Vilecheese.
@Blastoise_FTW: See ya next season!
@Blastoise_FTW: Here's a random fun fact: Taro is only the second winner who ISN'T the first and only person from their series. The other one is Jim.
Sly Cooper, Truama Center, The Urbz, Suidoken, Fire Emblem, Crash Bandicoot, Flapjack, Darkstalkers, Portal, Darkwing Duck, Neopets, Loony Tunes, and Fraiser only have ONE character (Or two in the same season when it comes to the Fans vs Canon seasons) and that character won.
Whereas Pokemon and Animal Crossing, the other two home series of a winner, have multiple characters other than the winner.
I might do more of these fun facts over the offseason if there is interest.
EDIT: Here's a mini fact for ya: Roth from SFC 13 is actually a character from a DIFFERENT SWSU comic called Resident Evil Hostage. It's on DA. Go read it, it's awesome.
@Blastoise_FTW: Go ahead. I'm up for anything that gives us something to do over the break.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: I might try to do them weekly.
Click on my updated rankings chart on my home page (it won't let me send the actual link) if anyone wants to see my rankings for the season. I don't feel like listing them here. I suppose I might as well list my season and winner rankings, though.

I'm just shocked that Taro got "ALL" the votes. I'd have expected at least one to be flipped the other way.
@Timeheart: Dustin backstabbed just enough to lose their support
Thought I might as well do a quick winner ranking too while I'm at it.
@dat4yc: Nice place to land for Taro
@dat4yc: I personally rank Ellise in the top three, considering how she dethroned Vinny.
@Sonofhades: Yeah but Vinnie is one of my favorite characters so I was rooting for a win from him XD
Working on a big brother brantsteele with this cast, will try to finish up and post tomorrow :)
@SWSU-Master: I finally took the time to submit my character, just FYI
My SFC15 rankings, if anyone is still looking here:
@Slicer37: You are, without a doubt, an asshole. First off, it's really petty and, frankly, childish that the very first thing you do when you make a new account is to block me on Deviantart so I can't respond. And then what do you do? Call me out and insult me, knowing full-well I cannot respond. Nice job; just goes to show how ridiculously laughable you are.
And, you know what? You're free to feel how you want, but what you said about Ky is simply wrong and it's ridiculous. I was NOT acting the same way over him that I did for Artemis. Ky isn't even my character. I just really connected with him and enjoyed him so much because of how pure, innocent, charming, sweet, funny, and likable he was. How is that so wrong? You act like enjoying characters, or hating on characters, is not allowed and it's "creepy" or "annoying" when people do it. How about you get off your soap box and your high horse, pull your head out of your ass, and learn to let the past be the past.
I'm sick and tired of douchebags like you taking shots at people/characters that don't deserve it, yet gushing over/loving those that don't, and giving the most ridiculous and pathetic reasons why. For God's sake, Ky had more character and depth than most OTTP characters like him in the entire series, and you choosing to just overlook them to hate on him is, again, pitiful. At least when I made my own rankings, I was able to take a step back, look at things logically and reasonably and take in the entire picture, before giving my judgment. You and others just focusing on select things proves how narrow-minded and, frankly, WRONG you are.
Get over yourself, Slicer. I may speak from a minority of 1, but I did NOT miss you at all. You and several others only care about insulting and hurting others for little to no reason, and the fact you just blatantly blocked me immediately upon getting a new account, with little to no reason, proves my point. Nice to know people like yourself can't and never change. Sad.
@Tailslover13: quit being a child
Anyone else sick of waiting already?
@Guest: Come on dude this thing has to take a long time to make. He has to write and sprite the whole thing on his own.
@Blastoise_FTW: At this point I'm just wondering if he sent out confirmation notes or not.
@ChronoAlone: SWSU's SJ forum profile says he last visited on July 24, about a month after the finale. That might mean the confirmation notes have already been sent, or someone just submitted a character really late.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Well, my character didn't make it then. Aw well, I wasn't happy with them anyway.
@ChronoAlone: Doesn't look like any of mine made it in, either. But that's fine. I wasn't going to tell anyone who my character was if any of them made it in.
I did have one major character of mine submitted, but I withdrew him a few months ago, similar to what happened with this season's intended winner. Looking back, that character might have made it in, but he's way too personal and complex a character, so I felt like I had to take him down.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Well, as far as we know, next season may be a full blown All Stars with all returning characters. Or possibly half and half. At the very least, it seems there will be less new characters than last time, so odds of a specific new character getting in seems pretty low at the moment in my opinion.
And on an unrelated note, I still haven't submitted my character that I talked about a few months back out of a combination of paranoia of not writing enough (or too much) and laziness :S
@anime9001: Here's a little question to help pass the time, What's your dream ''favorites'' team assuming it's half and half and is a 20 player season (meaning 10 returnees)?
@uhbihbjnk: Christ, do we really have to go through this *now*, during the break period?
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: We won't have to go through it ever again if tails disappears again
@uhbihbjnk: Well, I hope you're happy asshole, because Tails tried to commit suicide and is now in a coma. So congrats, you got your wish. He won't comment on these ever again.
@ChronoAlone: Cool, that is pretty neat! Thanks for the update.
@Guest: You must have been waiting an eternity to write down these words. You just couldn't wait for this moment to happen, right? No, please don't answer that; we all know that it's true. What is there to say about this? I certainly didn't think I'd ever come across a person such as you. Now, if you would please allow me to speak my peace about the situation.
Tails may not be the most agreeable person in the fanbase, but he's definitely an important part of the fanbase. The comment section needs someone like him to keep things interesting, and when we all found out what happened to him, what was your response? To hide your name from us as you mock the situation that our comrade is in. Truly the most courageous person of our time.
Nevertheless, I've never been one for confrontations, so I shall end my statement by wishing you good luck in the future. That way, you'll have at least a tiny sliver of hope to depend on as you continue to walk through your troubled life. Well, I'm off for the time being. Have a great day!
Survivor fan character ratings:
Alright, I may or may not have got incredibly bored and stolen a certain someones idea.
So... yeah. I made a stupid season on BrantSteele's simulator.
That said, it's not a survivor simulator.
It's a stupid Total Drama Island simulator.
so... erm... I randomly picked some people from the comments and put them on two teams... so here are the contestants I guess.
...and me. 'cus i'm a self-centered asshole.
So... here's a link I guess.
Don't hurt me.
(PS: I rigged it to be sure I didn't win. I'm not THAT bad.)
EDIT: 28th of August
For those who can't be bothered going through the entire simulation.
And some extra stats for the super nerds.
@Robolax7: Lol what an epic comeback from the winner
I get bored way too easily.
So i made another.
This time it's in the hunger games though.
So, y'know, it's less violent than the last simulation.
This simulation is using the exact same cast as the last one, except I added two other random people, who i'm too lazy to write out the names of, to fill the roster.
Feel free to pretend this doesn't exist.
I know I will.
@Robolax7: I would probably be the first to die in an actual HG.
@Robolax7: Heh, I ended up just like Noah: third voted out and didn't return for season two.
@ChronoAlone: Actually, you were 4th voted out, but one of the players voted out before you returned for the merge.
@Robolax7: lol yeah i won:D
@spinfur: Spoiler: you won twice.
The randomizer must love cats
@Robolax7: Hey where's me?!
Call me Donut123 instead...
Anything new going on with you guys? I'm about to start my senior year in high school, so that'll be a trip.
@ChronoAlone: Well, I'm planning to start a Youtube channel within the next week, so I suppose that's something. Already got a backlog of videos, but I feel that they're just sorta *meh* at the moment :S
That aside, I got my bachelors in the spring, and life as been fairly slow since.
Edit: Oh yeah, and since I loved the anime and wanted to go through the games before watching Danganronpa 3, a couple of the first videos are going to be me and a friend going through Danganronpa 1 and 2. He's surprisingly good at some of their voices....I'm not though, as it turns out~
@anime9001: Sounds good =)
@ChronoAlone: I finally started reading homestuck for the first time
wtf even is this
@Blastoise_FTW: Glad to hear you're enjoying it XP
any day now... anyyyy day now..
@Blastoise_FTW: We'll either get something this month or next, I'm going to guess.
@Blastoise_FTW: Had some real life problems that came up unexpectedly over the summer but things are getting back on track
@SWSU-Master: Can't wait to see what's coming up, and I hope things are going well since all of that. :)
@SWSU-Master: U should make a season where all the winners go against each other
@SWSU-Master: plz don't say u died... r u still alive or did u die of diabetes?(idk why I used "diabetes as an example...)
Anyone seen the new trailer for New Danganronpa V3? It looks freakin' sweet.
Taro still stinks Cherman is forever King!
@Thenewdonut: Cherman is the worst SFC character of all time
@uhbihbjnk: How dare u
Well... Dustin screwed up
(Continuously reloading page for more comics)
@ChronoAlone: I prefer to think of myself as a cunt rather than an asshole, but whatever you prefer. It really doesn't matter too much.
@uhbihbjnk: I don't care what you are. Either way, you need to fuck off.
@ChronoAlone: lmao I won't if I know i piss you off
@uhbihbjnk: So your entire purpose is just to piss people off, huh? You sure you're not a troll?
@ChronoAlone: i never claimed I wasn't? do you have a learning disability or something?
@Guest: I have humanity, something you clearly lack.
@ChronoAlone: you also clearly have some kind of retardation, which I fortunately lack
@Guest: You know, I feel like I should probably apologize to you for arguing with you, so I will.
I'm sorry you're 13 years old.
@ChronoAlone: that would have been a good insult if I actually was 13. It's like calling someone fat on the internet when you really don't know. Now, you've proved you have some severe learning disability (my condolences) so I have reasonable doubt that you're mentally intact.
Nice try though, I always encourage those less fortunate than myself :)
@uhbihbjnk: Oh, my apologies. It was honestly hard to tell. The lack of maturity tipped me off.
Also, if I wasn't mentally intact, don't you think I'd just be spamming caps lock telling you to "fuck yourself?"
@ChronoAlone: No, if you were mentally disabled, I'd expect you to be a whiny little bitch with the username ChronoAlone.
@Guest: Meh, I've been called worse, but I appreciate your efforts to make me feel bad about myself.
@ChronoAlone: It's always nice to be appreciated, thank you! I'd appreciate you more if you followed Tailslover's example and put yourself in a coma.
@uhbihbjnk: Well, this may surprise you, but I actually quite enjoy my life, so I'd rather not end it so quickly.
@ChronoAlone: It does surprise me actually, I'm shocked that someone can be so content with such a miserable existance. Good for you buddy!
@uhbihbjnk: Thank you!
@ChronoAlone: You're welcome
@uhbihbjnk: Wow you really are a worthless piece of shit. Why are you even alive when the world is better off without someone like you?
@Blastoise_FTW: I live to see the misery of Josh Schwartz. When he finally ends his miserable existence I'll never comment again and fade into obscurity.
@uhbihbjnk: If that's what you live for, you have a pretty pathetic life.
@Guest: Live is pretty dramatic. It's more like a hobby actually, a small piece of enjoyment outside of my everyday life
@uhbihbjnk: I'm sure there are better ways to spend your time, honestly. Like....reading a book maybe?
@Guest: I love literature, actually. Why would I choose between the two when I could easily do both?
SWSU please delete the trolling shit ffs.
Geez why u 2 make so many comments even I don't do that much
@Thenewdonut: at this point it's just a competition to see who gets the last comment before SFC16 starts
@Blastoise_FTW: Sorry, I just kinda snapped. Probably would be best if I didn't say anything.
@ChronoAlone: (YOU CAN DELETE THE COMMENTS NOW)
I get the last comment tho!,
no i do
I laugh at both of you.
There will probably not be a survivor fan characters until Christmas!
@Thenewdonut: ... Christmas of 2018
*Hums I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts as I wait*
I'm glad the election is over before SFC16. We won't have comment sections filled with people fighting over it. XD
Excuse me my liege. But when do you expect to post the preview? if I be so bold ta ask.
*imitating SWSU Master*
Sfc16 will not come out till next year... wait no... the year after next year...wait... nononono NOT UNTIL THE END OF TIME........ thank u very much
@Thenewdonut: *As a ghost after the heat death of the universe*
C'mon C'mon C'mon
Latest Comic: SFC 15 The Finale
SON OF A BI-
Oh when will our knight in shining armor come save us?!
Oh why thank you my liege, you are so wise. Shall I bow down to your superior wit? Perhaps I should stroke your Incredibly Large ego as well?
@Guest: (Being self now) Nah, no matter how much u stroke it, it will never be bigger than my mouth.
@ChaoticCross: Do not question the king, peasant.
Anyone playing Sun and Moon?
@ChronoAlone: Nah, but i'm playing Emerald.
Wild Tentacool appeared
Wild Tentacool appeared
Wild Tentacool appeared
Wild Wingull appeared
Wild Tentacool appeared
@Blastoise_FTW: You don't have that problem in Sun and Moon ;)
@ChronoAlone: Instead you get someone teaching you something every minute.
@DryIceBros: Better than a horde of poisonous hentai.
@ChronoAlone: "suddenly thinks about a thousand of Tentacruel and Tentacool Surrounding him with lust in their eyes" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH "Run's off into the night screaming all the way"
Any chances there will be new news about SFC coming soon?
@Timeheart: Not for a while I presume.
Okay so I've been reading this story for ages ((like before I had a phone and used my black and white kobo. You should've seen what I thought some of the characters were coloured like-)) and I finally mustered up the courage to ask if I wanted to send a character application how would I do so and would I need a smackjeeves?
@SweetCupcake: You do need an account if you want to apply. There's two different applications- one on SmackJeeves, which is older, and one on DeviantArt, which is more recent. If you want to use the SmackJeeves application, click on the SFC banner on the front page and scroll down to "Updated SFC Application".
@Guest: thank you so much! I sent in my application, but judging by past, it won't be seen till later, thank you so much for helping though ♡♡♡♡♡
Okay just something I noticed, I love how the whole jury's smiling that taro won
Than there's Brandi, sitting there with no expression, disappointed in everything and being salty that she wasn't up there instead
@Sweetcupcakes: Nice Maizono avatar.
@ChronoAlone: just noticed this now! Somehow my email notification got turned off. Hmmmm. Thanks Maizono is probably one of my favourite danganronpa characters
Is this the longest wait we've had between seasons?
@ChronoAlone: Yep. I think it's officially time to take away his "God of Buffer" title.
@ChronoAlone: I'm afraid this comic will go the way of Pokemon Hard Mode and we'll be sitting here for up to year before an update.
@Blastoise_FTW: Awwww, no one will team up with me
Happy Holidays Everyone!
So... Erm... Hi?
God i'm almost as bad online as irl.
Remember back in August when I posted those simulations?
Good. I wouldn't wanna remember those either.
Anyway, I made another.
I present to you, 'Survivor Redemption Island'!
Except I ruined it by adding some of you.
Anyways here's the cast!
GaryHawkins (your name was too long D: )
And that one guy nobody likes...
...also known as Robolax7

Also, for the sake of convenience, everyone is categorized as Male in this. I apologize if this is incorrect or somehow offends you.
If you think this was terrible, please insult me as much as necessary.
Don't worry about lowering my self esteem.
It can't get lower.
(Oh, also, Happy Holidays!)
@Robolax7: I always suck in these simulations. Though I have to say they aren't inaccurate.
@ChronoAlone: You wanna make it further? just re-simulate it until you win.
It's what I did to guarantee that my inflated ego was satisfied while not winning.
@Robolax7: Not criticising or anything but... could u add some instructions to it I kinda don't understand how to use it
This wait is really long ((longest if SFC history if I am correct)) I wonder what happened? Oh well, we all know SWSU-Master so it's going to be worth the wait at least c:
@Sweetcupcakes: Hope he's not dead...
@Thenewdonut: Yeah xD
@Sweetcupcakes: I had some real life things in the summer slow me down alot. Then as you can see in the preview. I couldnt reuse the same things I Had been using in prior seasons
Anyway... Happy New Year!!
Good new folks. According to SWSU on DA, the preview for the new season should be up within a week.
@ChronoAlone: Thank fucking Go- *cough* I mean, um... interesting. I look forward to this preview.
Sorry about the Delay folks, but the Preview is up!
@SWSU-Master: (Suddenly u notice u have probably broke the record of most comments on page)
