Fan Characters will be competing for $1,000,000.
And with a close call, Taro manages to pull it out and earn himself a spot in the Final 3
YES! Taro's final gambit paid off! I know some people won't be happy about that, but I don't care. He took a risk, was willing to get dirty, and it worked. All that matters is winning, so I'm proud of him for finally (and still kinda shockingly) winning an immunity...even if it was because he just crippled all the others. Now...I'm going to be SO happy, no matter what happens at the next tribal, because one way or another, a group of fans are gonna be disappointed and I'm gonna enjoy their misery~
Sylvia - Seeing Sylvia leave will be SO satisfying, because then it will finally shut people like Meme12rose (Deviantart user) up once and for all. All that irritating and random, gushing support Sylvia got at the start of the game will FINALLY be doused and she'll leave. She's about as interesting as Leah is, so seeing her get taken out would be hilariously glorious and satisfying to me personally. Much like how some fools laughed and cheered when Ky left? Well, I'll laugh and cheer when Sylvia leaves. Payback's a bitch. Not to mention I'm pretty sure it would give us our first final 3 of all males ever, which would be odd, yet somewhat interesting.
Dustin - Seeing Dustin leave will be SO hilarious, because some people have suddenly began to randomly jump on his bandwagon just because Taro did a little naughty thing with the food poisoning, and seeing him win would be horrendous. Also, newsflash people: STOP COMPARING FABIO TO HIM! That's an insult to Fabio. All Fabio did that was "stupid" was not use a marker correctly, get his finger pinched by a crab, and openly admit to peeing in a pool. Fabio is NOT an idiot; he was just ditzy, if anything. Dustin is a pure idiot, and it's not enjoyable. Seeing him get taken out at long last will be very satisfying, since he's a disgrace to the game, and people rooting for him makes me smack my forehead in dismay.
Shaega - Seeing Shaega leave will be SO overdue, because I seriously hate the whole shtick of "villain makes the end, only to lose without any votes to the jury, or lose right BEFORE the jury vote" has gotten REALLY old. Not to mention all his shit has to catch up to him at some point. His cheating, his bullying, his manipulation (even worse than Brandi did), his insanity...he needs his comeuppance. Not to mention there are still people randomly rooting for HIM, too! So, seeing him leave would be so long overdue, and even if I hate Dustin and Sylvia, seeing them with Taro in the final 3 would be a lot better than seeing Shaega there with one of them.
No matter what happens, I'm going to be happy regardless. I'm just going to sit back and laugh as someone's favorite has to say bye-bye at long last. I can't wait to see who it is. I honest-to-God don't care who it is; I hate all three of them, so seeing any of them leave is good enough for me. Just hope it's hilariously humiliating as they deserve.
@Tailslover13: Who jumped on Dustin's bandwagon? I like him, and yeah what Taro did was dirty, but nothing I'd truly condemn the guy for. I did see some call Taro a villain (which makes no sense, he simply did what he knew he needed to do to survive. With all of that said, is it confirmed that it's a Final 3 that makes it to Jury? If so, then I guess Taro has it won (I ain't complaining), but if not... I just wasn't clear with that last comic.
@Guest: A lot of people are jumping on the Dustin bandwagon, mostly on Deviantart, and a few people on here, too, like Kyle.
And...final 3 or final 2, Taro is going to win regardless. I'm pretty sure. This whole "food poisoning" thing wasn't meant to make us think he loses; we're SUPPOSED to be backing him up on this. This isn't a loser's edit; it's a winner's one. I'm sure of it.
@Tailslover13: That's crazy. Most were either neutral or disliking of Dustin all season.
True about Taro, but I'm preparing just in case the unthinkable happens and he somehow loses. It isn't likely, and I do agree that his food poisoning trick was never meant to be as big as some make it out to be.
@Guest: Indeed...but, after Taro did this "horrible, unspeakable" thing, people are now starting to back Dustin and call him the second coming of Fabio...which is ridiculous, because Fabio was NOT this stupid. Not even close.
Thank you. People are blowing this out of proportion so much and it's annoying.
@Tailslover13: Even Brenton was being compared to Dustin. May Brenton's soul be blessed. I reviewed the season, Brenton wasn't this stupid.
@Guest: Yeah, no kidding. Brenton at least got Madison to actually like him in a somewhat romantic way. Dustin...never even came close with Sylvia. Brenton has a good head on his shoulders...in a sense. Dustin just no brains at all.
@Guest: Yeah I don't quite see why the food poisoning thing has so many people in a rage. He is just doing all he can to make the finals after all, and he knew he couldn't beat Sylvia and Dustin.
Also, I'd say it was also partially their own faults because they thought it was okay to eat uncooked scallops lol.
@Tailslover13: Taro plays dirty, he's a hero.
Sylvia plays dirty, spawn of Satan.
Sorry dude. You're awesome and all, but that don't make sense ?.?
@ChronoAlone: Sylvia has done a lot of bitchy moves the whole season. Taro only did this to survive. I just see it as different, that's all.
@Tailslover13: Who's to say Sylvia didn't do what she did to survive?
Not trying to defend her or anything, I'm just trying to find a good argument.
@ChronoAlone: She just...her personality and her "relationship" with Dustin...it just comes off as more forced and uncomfortable than...likable? I don't know. It's hard for me to explain.
When I see Ky/Taro, I see genuine friendship and two nice guys. When I see Sylvia/Dustin, I see...an alliance, but a shaky one. And Sylvia picks fights with Leah and Tamara, and throws a fit when things don't go her way (while Taro just calmly understands it and keeps a level head), so now that Sylvia has the upper hand and a 3-1 majority...Taro does what he can to survive for the first time. That's all.
@Tailslover13: I agree with you on the Sylvia/Dustin alliance and etc. But even so, Taro just lost a little respect from me, honestly. And now a Taro win wouldn't be as exciting because it's pretty much set in stone now.
@ChronoAlone: Hopefully SWSU will have an explanation for it when/if the time comes.
@Tailslover13: I'm certainly interested in what that'll say.
@ChronoAlone: If he says anything worthwhile at all. xD
@Tailslover13: Oh come on, give the man a break XD
@ChronoAlone: Eh, I joke with him all the time. He trolls me and I torture him. It's all in good fun. Trust me, if he didn't like me or didn't like what I said, he'd say something~ xD
@Tailslover13: Fair enough XP
@ChronoAlone: It's mostly a matter of audience sympathies at this point. Taro's got righteous fury and a good cause behind him. Sylvia... doesn't.
@Sonofhades: Well, regardless, he could've done something a lot more mature. I mean, food poisoning? I don't even know how you can support that.
@ChronoAlone: I can't, really. It's not an act deserving of support. It's the kind of dirty move you pull to win at any cost, but you feel really bad about afterwards. It's a long-term black mark on Taro... but he's been so sympathetic before this that I still support him.
@Sonofhades: If Taro apologizes for poisoning them, then fine, at least he's man enough to admit he sabotaged the challenge. If he doesn't and pretend that nothing happened at all, that'll be it for me.
@ChronoAlone: that's a pretty fair judgment. I too believe it was just necessary for the game, but yeah I'll hold that over him if he doesn't apologize. Not enough not to like him though.
@ChronoAlone: On that, we can agree.
@Tailslover13: im sorry, but you are acting a little hypocritical right now. A couple comics ago you complemented SWSU for addressing to discourse in the comments. But now you are calling anyone who likes Sylvia a bad person, and only further escalating the drama. It is almost like you are saying " slandering my point of view is wrong, but it's okay if I do it to you because I'm right." I am in no way saying you are a bad person, but you should remember that while you have the right to your opinion, other people have the right to theirs.
@Misterjakester: Dude, you're not helping.
@Misterjakester: True...but I was put down so harshly in SFC11 for gushing over a certain character over and over and over again...and no one came to MY aid. So now when I get to scold someone for doing the same and annoying me, I'm a bad guy? REALLY? Two wrongs don't make a right, but I'd rather be honest about how I feel then hold those emotions in, you know? I just like to say how I feel. Sorry if they come across as harsh.
@Tailslover13: I understand that, but if you felt so helpless and alone during that time, shouldn't you not do it to someone else, because you know how bad it feels?
@Tailslover13: An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind
@misterjaester: This is different, though. On Deviantart, the people who say these things AREN'T alone. There were always people backing them up, cheering with them, and having fun. But, when I did it...I was a one-man show. So, it's different; it's not like calling out one meek individual person for being a certain way and they can't defend themselves. This is just calling out a select group who have been annoying since the start. That's all.
@Tailslover13: That is fair. Still, if they are bothering you, I suggest not dignifying them with a response. ( I can't respond after this I need to go to bed)
@Misterjakester : Maybe so...but after a whole season of seeing comment after comment about this...and I just do NOT like Sylvia...it just eats away at your sanity. Heh.
Have a good rest.
Sudden F2 twist to screw Taro over please.
Now who's leaving this time? I have no idea. I THINK Dustin's safe though.
Yay. Taro won.
Like we didn't see this coming >.>
Rip.... idk, Shaega? I doubt it, honestly. Maybe a tie between him and either Sylvia or Dustin, with Shaega winning the tiebreaker.
Sylvia/Dustin (whoever survives) wins?
@coolkyledude: If it's a Final Two and Taro wins again (possible if the others still feel like crap), I feel kike he would vote out Shaega.
I'm predicting Dustin/Taro or Sylvia/Taro, with the former being likelier.
Well, he did it. Unfortunately, whoever goes home next is probably going to tell the jury everything.
Except for Dustin. Assuming for whatever reason he goes home next, I think he might just forget about the whole thing and Taro will get no flack for what he did.
EDIT: I just realized that Dustin *has* to vote against one of his two best friends tonight. You know what'll be funny/sad? What if he quits because he doesn't want to vote for either of them?
Compared to last season, which I described as having possibly the worst original cast, I have to say that this cast has a few more positive characters whom I can fully support. That said, Season 8 is much worse that Season 7. For that matter, it's also the worst season I've covered so far, and only the first stepping stone in the trilogy of hated seasons that also includes SFC10 and SFC12.
Midway Island, in my opinion, was actually a pretty good twist. The ability to jump ship for either strategic or personal reasons worked well... for a while. Since the season was named after its main twist, of course we'll have to keep using it even after it's lost its relevance, right?! Yes, unfortunately. And although the post-merge Midway Island twist only lasted for one episode thanks to some possible rapist not knowing how to read, it doesn't matter in the end because Heinz still did not manage to get rid of Matt.
The main reason why I hate Season 8 as a whole is the ending and the events leading up to it. I can't necessarily think of *better* people from this season to be sitting at the end, but that doesn't mean our official Final Three was any good. First off, Matt is a completely awful jackass who doesn't seem to realize that making moves is not the same as making smart moves, not unlike Russell, yet somehow even lower than that. I don't tolerate stupid unless I find it entertaining, so with that said, I can at least enjoy watching Russell make an ass out of himself. To me, Matt is someone who got into Survivor through Samoa and tried to replicate a non-winning strategy. Oh, and nice Jury performance, dude.
Heinz got voted back into the game, which I think should be enough to keep someone from winning. Even if he wasn't voted out and brought back, this guy also had a terrible social/strategic game. Instead of going after the obvious threats, he spent most of his time focused on getting revenge on Matt, which, and I don't care what anyone else says, did NOT end up happening. Also, that sideplot about him not really being from Tekken (at the time)? Here's my response: so what? No, seriously, why did he, along with everyone else, think that was such a big deal? If I catch someone looking for an idol on Day One, that doesn't make them untrustworthy, it only means they might have an idol. This may seem like I'm blaming people like Oehda and Kiara for freaking out about Heinz lying about where he's from, but I think it's mostly his fault for caring too much about it in the first place.
Now for the winner. Much like Barney, I am really irked by how Melanie managed to pull off the win. It really shouldn't bother me this much, since she made plenty of strategic moves, most notably the Oehda vote and choosing to nullify herself. But it's all ruined by the fact that she had the laziest ride to the finals any winner has ever had. As I said, I liked Melanie for a while, but waiting for her to win was painfully tedious. Anyone can tell you this is an almost identical copypaste of the ending to Samoa, only with two idiots this time, which I think makes the situation worse because that means neither of them had any excuse for never voting her off. If she had at least a little bit of trouble along the way, maybe this season wouldn't be as despised as it is today.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Yeah, that's my biggest problem with SFC8. Melanie's win was obvious from a certain point onwards to the point that she had like zero trouble getting there.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Ah, SFC8. The season I railed the hardest against in my reread. I actually really liked the Midway Twist, since it lead to amusing shenanigans with the likes of Xero. There were some neat characters like Heinz. But that said, it does indeed get overshadowed by the ending. Melanie was the single most annoyingly blatant winner in the history of this series, bar none. Her run to the end was so easy that it killed any and all dramatic tension. Ruined SFC8 for me.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Guest #4 and Son Of Hades pretty much summed it up best: Melanie. Biggest reason why I detest the season. To be fair, I somewhat liked Melanie at the start, too...but then she just got so utterly boring. She's a succubus or something, right? Well, she "sucked" all the life out of the season. Heinz and Matt had their little spat the entire way through...Malik and Kiara were unfortunate victims of a purple rock and a purple asshole (even though I honestly liked Iraenus, despite why he was created...and his bullying of Malik)...and the whole thing about Heinz lying about where he from was ridiculous. As you said...WHO CARES? Why did that even matter?
The whole season was just awful. Penny left early. Alice left early. Jackie left pre-merge. Xero was the first merge elimination. Oehda was a random bitter bitch. It was just one thing after another that dragged the season down, down, down. Melanie is quite possibly one of the worst winners, too, next to...the SFC11 winner, whom will remain nameless. Awful season.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: To be honest, this is the first of your reviews I've fully read due to my shear laziness, so sorry for that :p
With that, I've been thinking a lot about my distaste for how this season is ending with Taro being the victor, and it's reminding me a ton of what people said about Melaine back in SFC8. That being said, I've personally never disapproved of a winner before this season and I have never disliked a season as a whole (and I still don't dislike this season). So this makes me question whether I was just really bad at seeing the outcome of that season or if I just find Taro's win that much worse.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: Dustin's just dumb enough to do it (I think he won't).
Oh thank god.... Was getting worried there for a minute but the tanooki pulled it off!
Kinda hoping Sylvia or Dustin leaves, but I expect it'll be Shaega. Either way, I think Taro probably wins this if it is Final Three. If it's not final 3.. I have no idea what's gonna happen next.
@dat4yc: Quick question. Did you reply to one of my comments? Because I got a notification from G-Mail that you commented, but I don't see anything here.
@ChronoAlone: Oh, I was replying to Guest's comment earlier in the thread, but I accidentally replied to yours instead so I deleted it and replied to theirs. Sorry about the confusion XD
Edit: This is dat4yc, didn't realize I was logged out when I sent this...
@Guest: Oh XD
Well, thanks for clearing that up.
Good. Taro's gambit paid off. Now one of the people I dislike is going home, and it's about time too. So, will it be Sylvia, who lost 30 IQ points and her social skills after the merge? Dustin with his negative IQ, who only survived due to his physical prowess and ability to ride coattails? Or Shaega, who takes delight in the suffering of everyone who isn't him? Either way, it's gonna be hilarious to see this in two days.
You know if Shaega poisoned everyone, people would be whining and moaning, but since TARO did it, they are all like "OMG OMG TARO-GODDDD." when really Taro really only exists to help with Ky's development. I don't care what people say, what Taro did is WRONG, and I don't care if people say "well Shaega cheated too." Um, that's the point, he's an asshole who wants to bring out the emotions in people. By my reading of the comments, people think he is a hero. Well, fuck that. He's acting like a baby just, because they didn't give up, and let Ky and Taro get to the end. I could go on, but I think I made my point. BTW, if Taro does win (vomits), he's going to be my least favorite character in the season for me (Yes, he will be below ZACH AND LUNA for me). This is the steepest drop in rankings, I have every seen in SFC imo.
@Guesty: Taro's not a total hero anymore. I'm confident he's losing at least a few jury votes for doing this.
@GaryHawkinsLandscaper: I know that, but the rabid Karo fans *cough TAILS *cough just keep ignoring logic, reason, and being a decent person to make Taro this good justly hero when he really is a piece of BITCH.
@Guesty: Don't take cheap shots. This is supposed to be a civil comments section.
@Sonofhades: It was mainly a joke tbh. He's okay from what I have seen him post.
@Guesty: Sorry. It's hard to tell, given the legitimate vitriol in this comments section the past couple of weeks.
@Guesty: To be fair though, logic and reasoning all point to Taro winning. A close second is Sylvia and she really only wins if she doesn't get voted out and Taro does. We will be spared a Dustin/Shaega F2.
@Guesty: Who's Zach?
@Guest: ummm Werewolf Zach. 3rd juror Zach?
@Guesty: Lmao. My bad. I knew this Zach. After looking over his Deviant art page, I somehow mistaked him from the Zach from SFC 9 (the first one eliminated).
Well, that wasn't too surprising. Although Sheaga put up a good fight. Seems that Sylvia will be leaving now since Taro's going to win and she's the only person left who could pose a threat against him when time comes for the jury. Hopefully it's Dustin or Sheaga instead though.
And Taro wins immunity! *golf claps* I really don't have an idea on what I think about the very likely prospect of Taro winning, but I kinda do think this whole food poisoning ordeal would be kinda anticlimactic for Taro's final big move.
But I don't think Taro's scheming ends here considering the fact that Taro still hasn't enacted his specific revenge towards Shaega yet. What I think happens is that the vote will be tied with Taro and Sylvia voting for Shaega while the other two vote Sylvia, and then Taro makes a deal with Shaega that he will switch his vote and avoid a tiebreaker at the cost of Taro being allowed to getting rid of Paranoia Exorcist style with Luna's little gift., resulting in Paranoia leaving and Sylvia getting voted out 3-1.
So.... the question remains: Dustin, Shaega or Sylvia?
While Dustin and Shaega are pretty good goats, Sylvia is probably the least likely to stay. Still, if Taro's earlier gambit with making Shaega a 'Jury Threat' actually holds, Shaega might be trouble as well.
Of course, the one thing I'm wondering is how Taro did all that with his eyes closed? Maybe THAT'S his superpower? I'm somewhat disappointed and yet want that power for myself...
@RedBeryl: Well, many characters do that. Brock from Pokemon comes to mind.
So Jeff totally saw Shaega using paranoia and still had no problems with it? That's good to know because then he won't have a problem with the food poisoning either which is pretty obvious here.
Funny how Shaega's cheating wasn't enough to beat Taro's plan but it sure was a close call. I wonder how the voting will go now.
Shaega - Taro and Sylvia - Shaega seems pretty obvious but will this end up as a 3-1 vote for Shaega or a tiebreaker because Dustin is talked into betraying Sylvia? I know he isn't the brightest bulb this season but I think it will be kept simple.
@SkySurfer: He's actually happy about the food poisoning and usage of paranoia because it makes good TV.
I think Shaega's going home first. Sylvia and Dustin will stick together here to eliminate him before Dustin does something stupid. I totally don't see Taro winning the final immunity challenge as I believe Dustin will.
I totally believe the food poisoning is to make the Taro victory doubtful, similar to how Tapioca's sudden shift in character started doubt for Jim's win in SFC13. To people who think that the jury will not like what he did.... lol.
I mean, with a Dustin/Taro F2, can you really not expect a Taro victory?
Hmm, I'm glad my favorite character left won immunity, but I'm getting worried that he won't win the next. I guess we'll just have to see how things go~
That was intense! But we all knew Taro was going to win that. Even if Evil Spirit triumphs food poisoning.
I'm putting my money on Sylvia leaving next. Shaega convinces Dustin to vote for her, and Taro bandwagons cause' why the fuck not? After that, Taro wins final immunity, and votes off Dustin, for the easy win against Shaega.
Oh my god yes yes yes!!
Already reaching the subway Taro hype train choo choo!!
In all seriousness, fuck yeah. Sylvia, you ain't winning boo boo. Shayga, please die. Dustin, you dumb as hell, I feel pity, mhm not really.
To quote the amazing goddess of blazing speed Crystal Cox. Forget you! Go home! Goodbye!
You fuck with Taro, you are dead.
I love how everyone acts like Brandi is the spawn of Satan when Taro actually poisoned everyone and you guys still think he's the good guy? weird set of morals there
@Slicer37: Brandi isn't the spawn of Satan, she was just generally unpleasant for most of the time she was here. I've enjoyed Taro for most of the season and he did one unpleasant act to save his game. Wouldn't say he's heroic at all, I just think it's reasonable for people to react this way and don't think it's a completely fair comparison to make.
Also not sure why you are judging people's morals over their reactions to a webcomic.
