Fan Characters will be competing for $1,000,000.
You guys sure caught on faster than Desmond did, if he found out the swap happened he might not have gotten so cocky.
Before I get to Desmond, let me clear up why this move was okay. The no switching in Challenges/Tribal Councils were set up early on to prevent confusion such as one twin winning the challenge for the opposite team, and then their twin getting voted out in their place. That was set up so that premerge when they were split up, it would never become an issue. Postmerge. If one sister won Immunity and swapped places, and the tribe voted the other out. That twin would still go since it was clear what the votes were for.
But enough about that. Onto Desmond. Desmond was a character I had fill several different roles in the story before landing him in this spot. He was sleazy, cocky, and arrogant, but also played smart games. His own downfalls, like what happened tonight, is when he feels victory is assured and he gets sloppy, and completely missing on the personal part of the game, such as eye color... and only focusing on the strategic part. It was fun to work with Desmond because he was one that teetered on going on a redemption arc, but just like some people just have that part in them. Desmond could never truly get over his arrogance in the game, and in the last couple of days in the game it came back to get him.
For someone who normally takes the role of a strategy bot, Desmond really showed alot of personality and had several compelling dynamics with fellow castaways. However these bonds would not be the ones to take him to victory. Now only two remain. And one day left....
Yes because I'm sure screaming and acting like a crazy person makes you look just as good as Liz does, Desmond.
And we've got a twin F2, which I feel was the main reason this season exists. I think Liz has the better story, but let's see what happens.
@Vilecheese: Actually the pair thing was one of the last parts to be added.
And the obvious has happened! At this point I'm pretty sure that Jojo pretty much has this in the bag since she is pretty much guaranteed Mac, Prussia, Diego, and Amelia's vote, so unless there is some sort of final twist then she pretty much has this.
I'm still confused about the jury number and tribal council count, but I guess we'll will learn about those things later.
EDIT: I still feel that it's kinda weird that Desmond gets a more humiliating elimination than Amelia...
@Quizzical Pursuit: Amelia had an entire episode of people shitting on her. Desmond just had one comic
@SWSU-Master: I was talking more about the breakdown that occurred that happened after they realized their game was over, but your point makes complete sense!
That was great, it was totally worth the wait
@sesareee: Glad to hear that
Sue me for saying this, but I actually kinda liked Desmond. Like you said SWSU, he was a stratbot with some personality, which is hard to come by honestly. He was cocky and a complete asshole, but he was still interesting at least. I must say though, I never expected him to make it this far. I figured he'd leave post-tribe switch at the earliest. Congrats for proving me wrong Desmond.
I'm rooting Liz personally, but JoJo winning would be nice too I guess.
@ChronoAlone: Characters like Desmond tend to go early jury like Ivan. Final 3 is rare for them
Dangit, saw this coming. I probably would have been more interested in the twins if I actually felt like they played a good game. Switching at convenient times doesn't mean you're smart. Not to mention this outcome was so obvious I was hoping it wouldn't occur. Oh well, wonder how the rest is gonna play out.
@Shyruni: Liz was a challenge beast and Jojo did scrape by and survive the numbers
@SWSU-Master: As I said before, it was more how obvious it was, but it's not like I'm gonna stop reading XD
@Shyruni: I was surprised I was able to hold off on the majority guessing it for most of the season
The twins have done what Missy and Baylor could not! The final surviving pair makes it to the final 2! (which was a final 3 in San Juan Del Sur). Desmond's fall was giving me some Luna-esque vibes and I loved it. Marvelous job SWSU!! Super excited to see the twins face off!
@JboyInc: Final Two against a jury of 8, which twin will prevail?
@SWSU-Master: The twins end up being the same person in which one is wearing contacts and they both reveal it at the final tribal council and then they both win!
So that happened.
I do have to agree with Vile here that this season probably existed for this reason. Ironically, even though we pretty much knew this would happen since Stagg left, I didn't notice that SWSU hinted at this finale way back at the beginning of the comic, when Yukie pointed out that she made HER season that this season was based on to show that when you ignore a guy alliance, they'll steamroll to the end. By her changing how things went however, it was ignoring the sisters that allowed them to steamroll to the end.
Aside from that, I'll say again that Desmond doesn't really feel like he deserved this downfall until this episode really and that it should have been Amelia, but it was pretty entertaining to say the least. I want Liz to win now but I think it's gonna be Jojo.
Edit: Wait, a jury of 8 with twins? Well, that shouts a tie if I've ever heard of one :p
@anime9001: Is it possible that the audience vote could make a grand return? It seems ridiculous, but with a twin F2 it seems sort of appropriate.
@Quizzical Pursuit: It's probably either going to be that, or it's going to be a tie and the twins ask to split it~
I'd personally prefer the first one, since I wasn't reading these live back when the first audience vote happened, but I feel that SWSU would go with the second choice. I guess we'll find out soon enough :p
@anime9001: I don't see them being able to split it since it would kinda be a massive cop-out from actually having a winner.
@anime9001: Wonder if the twins would like a tie?
the elimination played out a little harsher than i expected, but it still ended with desmond losing.
i'd have to go back and check older comics to list all his moves, but desmond did play a pretty decent strategic game. he just made the fatal mistake of being caught in a twin trap. cpn dudes aren't usually my favorite sfc archetype, but desmond wasn't the worst of the worst at least, and his jury speech could be interesting.
i think jojo might win, mostly just because of her friends on the jury. they're both technically going to win anyway, since jojo's gonna move in to liz's apartment at the end.
because i'm a HUGE NERD, i tried to take a guess on what the sfc14 cover will look like on deviantart. how close am i?
five people from each tribe and a minimum two pre-mergers like the other covers. all three pairs are on the cover, sgt. stagg and yukie take center positions 'cause they're important. diego and adeline cross tribal lines because they love someone on the other side. i feel like ivan should have been on it, but i put mac so i could have 5 go'jongas
@Congo: Hm, very good cover. Might just use that XD
@SWSU-Master: really? cool! you can use it if you want, though i thought you had a cover ready... wasn't sure how long you prepare them in advance.
i also put a in secret 11th contestant, but that person is really hard to find. can you find that person?
@Congo: I don't see him? Did you really put him in or are you just joking? If not, I feel you should make his green hair nick into one of the black corners or something~
Everyone who reads it in the future needs to know how....um.... "important" he'll be to the series~
@anime9001: spoilers for where the 11th person is: look near liz for a mysterious blank spot :)
i guess i should have made the green hair visible, but you can spot his awkward face, blue shirt, and orange pants. it was hard to squeeze all the characters in.
@Congo: Possibly more spoiler for where he is: I can't tell if I'm actually seeing him still. Unless he's literally the blue and orange pixel in the bottom left corner, I'm blind. Sorry :p
@anime9001: Don't feel too bad, that pixel is the only thing I noticed too :P
@coolkyledude: @anime9001: to confirm, the collection of pixels on the bottom left corner near (and behind) liz is in fact, the secret guy.
Dammit now I want a season of Survivor that has a set of Triplets split amongst 3 tribes
@qazox: That sounds cool, but the title would be kind of a mess (I imagine it being along the lines of "Survivor: Blood vs Water vs Even More Water)
@Quizzical Pursuit: or Survivor: Triple Threat
I'm going to basically just piggyback on what @ChronoAlone said. He was a great character, albeit kind of a dickish one. He reminded me of Togami from Danganronpa, or maybe pre-character development Miles Edgeworth, and frankly I liked both of those characters for what they were, so Desmond wasn't hard to like.
He was actually a really strong strategic player, his fatal mistake was getting too cocky and thinking he could take on the twins... which by all means he probably could have had the family visit not happened.
At this point, I don't really mind either twin winning because both have had interesting rides through the game and both's archetypes seem to very rarely win so that's cool too.
Also, you're much better at writing twins than the Total Drama crew is so good job.
Also (2), Liz throwing all of Desmond's game talk back in his face right before voting was badass as all hell.
@coolkyledude: I don't think it makes much sense to compare Liz/Jojo to Amy/Samey since their dynamics are completely different despite being twins.
@Vilecheese: I suppose, but I managed to find a link to watch the first episode of Ridonculous Race on Reddit a few weeks ago and there was a pair of twins on there. They were the exact same as Amy/Samey in that they were total opposites and had a big conflict with each other despite being attached at the hips. At least every pair that SWSU has included has been unique in some way.
P.S. For the record I'd highly doubt I'd be able to find the link to the first episode to Ridonculous Race again, so I'd check the Total Drama subreddit if that interests you.
Yay, McBastard is gone!!!
I wish I could safely say my own twin would have done the same for me.
On another note, if Desmond were to ever return, having learnt his mistakes, he would be quite the formidable opponent.
@Yo: I wouldn't put it past SWSU to bring him back.
Woo! About time! Goodbye and good riddance, Desmond. You had it far too easy.
I think (and hope) that Liz is going to win this one, because this move was gold.
Ok, I already expected him to be a sore loser but that... was a rather extreme emotional outburst.
Desmond actually played an effective game, knowing when it's the right time to exploit other people's weaknesses. What prevented him from becoming sole survivor was his terrible ego which caused him to become so careless in the end. Too bad that was a really serious problem
I probably wouldn't have expected a sisters finale after their secret was revealed and yet here we are... It should be interesting to see if Jake actually gets to vote since this could end in a tie with only 8 jury members present. Maybe it's up to the readers like in season 7...?
ok i'm just gonna get it out of my system.
YEAH BABY HE'S GONE HE'S FINALLY GONE YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYEYSYES WOO.
Well this is a nice turn of events.
Another theory of mine slapped across the face.
18th castaway a complete joke and waste of a slot instead of a developed fan character.
And now "2 tribal councils" as stated is truly "3 tribal councils" because I know SWSU isn't going to pull a random Liz or Jojo quit just to give the other an automatic win.
@Guest: Also I think there's a chance Jojo can beat Liz, despite the fact that I think Liz has been the most obvious winner since like... Episode 5 or 6.
Jojo: Mac, Prussia, Amelia, Sgt. Stagg, Desmond
Liz: Ivan, Yukie
Doesn't matter what Diego does; likely Jojo.
Unless Prussia, Diego and Stagg vote more based on gameplay rather than personal reasons, Jojo is the winner. Shocking..
@Guest: I'm still going with it ending as a tie or Jojo winning, leaning towards the tie, but Stagg is voting for Liz 100%, he thought of her as his rival and they treated each other with a lot of respect.
I also actually expect Desmond to vote for Liz in the end as well, and Amelia, being Amelia, could be a toss-up as well.
Eh, he was a pretty good player. It's a pity he let his ego get out of control. And that the twin switch worked again. I think Liz is going to win, because Jojo has the stench of Amelia on her.
